Raauhl had been watching her carefully, he had caught the tired and hot look from her nausea and he felt guilty that he hadn’t noticed things sooner. His hand had rested on her knee, their quarters were generous but he ablutions floor wasn’t really made for sitting. “I Love you too Casela” when he had gone and retrieved the glass of water Raauhl had also picked up something else. “I had hopes to do this in far more favorable scene but Casela Synthi-er will you do me the pleasure and agree to become my wife?”

Casela, glass half raised for another sip, stopped. She blinked once and then her eyes snapped back to his. Her hand shook slightly and with exaggerated care she set the glass on the floor. She stared hard into his brown/blue eyes. One hand reaching up to hold onto and to trace the runes of her necklace over and over again. She reached out slowly tracing each of his spots. Fingers trailed across his forehead, down his temple to his neck, across his shoulder, over his chest, abdomen, all the way to his feet. On the other end of that perfect and inexplicable connection was Ryder.
She stared into his eyes another long moment. I would worry like mad the whole time you were away, I would tell you not to worry about me and do what is right, and I would want to choose to protect you over the safety of myself but I would never put anyone at any risk because of it, but it doesn’t matter because we’re strong enough to make it work and it’s worth it, your worth it. They had done the worry and doing what was right, and putting the safety of others, of the Federation before themselves. Loosing him to death and feeling him slip inexorably away from her, and not being able to stop it. He chose to protect Gen over her and she loved him even more for it. Here they still were, after everything that had happened, and she had no doubt Ryder was worth it.
She nodded slowly her hand finding his. “Yes. It scares me, but there is nothing I want more than to be your wife and the mother of your children.”

Ryder slowly put on the ring, it wasn’t much nothing to fancy or a huge rock as he knew Casela wouldn’t want something like that instead it was a single rose gold band with a singular diamond studded in the centre in a cathedral setting, it was graceful and elegant or so Ryder thought. “It scares me to but at least we’ll be doing it together” He returned the small box to the floor and held her hand, their wordless conversation bouncing between them.

Casela looked down at the ring, it was simple, but not plain. It was elegant and graceful. “It’s beautiful.” They were quiet for a long time, Casela totally absorbed in that quiet, wordless conversation. As a Betazoid it was a natural thing, to connect, to converse, to feel in such a way. Her life, until Ryder, didn’t allow for such a thing though. To find it here, so far from anything resembling her life before the Academy. At the same time it was so much more, deeper, more than minds. There was a term for it, but Casela wasn’t willing to focus too much there at the moment. Everything was changing in ways she never would have dreamed about.
Eventually her stomach settled and they moved off the floor and back into bed. Casela laid on her left side, that seeming to be the only way her stomach didn’t protest at her. “Do you think Gen will be more excited about us getting married or having a baby brother or sister?” And then she groaned…”Do we have to tell Cobb right away?”

“I think she’ll explode with the combined joy of them both, so maybe we should alert RTF to a possible anomaly breach before hand” Ryder joked rolling his thumb along her hand, “As for Cobb lets see how long it is before he notices the ring and then maybe we’ll tell him. Besides he’ll only be nothing but supportive and I like to make him sweat from time to time, you know if we get married on the ship he’ll be the one to do it right?”

Cas laughed softly but stopped with a groan - her stomach didn’t like that. Teeth clinched she breathed heavily until it passed. “I’ll make sure to put Fenrir at alert first,” she smiled. “Naw, Cobb will notice almost right away. He’s not nearly as inattentive as people think. However it will take him weeks to build up the nerve to ask about it.” The movement of his thumb along her hand was calming. “Good you make him sweat because I’ll get no end of ribbing from the man.” Married She nodded slowly, “We don’t have any one else who can do it unless we go to the star base.” It wasn’t like they could go to Betazed and get married. “Would you want to go to Trill? You have family there.”
“Speaking of Gen and her anomalous self. I don’t know how much you’ve talked to Chief Vonn, but I wanted to ask you what you though of letting him work with Gen some. I’ve gotten to know him and he’s very level headed, patient, and incredibly good with the kids on board. He doesn’t form preconceptions and when he evaluates you it’s honest and fair. And given her…temper and the results, it might do her some good.”
