Suddenly wearied by the incident, Zachariah retreated to his chair and allowed himself a moment to relish one of Quinn’s now cold coffees, before focusing again on the matter in hand.

=^= Computer, show me the file for anomaly ARU-2750 =^= he requested between gulps of coffee, one of which he nearly spat out again when the computer replied with =^= That information is classified =^=
Cobb responded with a shrug, before punching in his personal command codes, followed by a swipe of his right thumb over the fingerprint scanner. =^= Computer, have those files transmitted to my personal secure terminal =^=
=^= That information is classified. You do not possess sufficient clearance to access it =^=
“Since when?!” the retort had been intended as a mutter for his ears alone, but rising frustration amplified it by several levels.
=^= Classification on ARU-2750 was last amended on 12107.21 =^=

Cobb flew back to his feet and marched over to Commander Magnusson. “That was bloody yesterday! As we were leaving the starbase. Commander, see if you can find out who updated that classification.” Then leaning in more closely and dropping his voice to a whisper he added, “Use any methods available to you. You have my full authorisation.”

Meanwhile, beyond the distraction of their current predicament, the Leviathan continued to burrow deeper into the Alini system, the spatial anomaly they had been sent here to investigate looming just beyond the horizon…

“Deploy a class IV probe in the direction of the anomaly,” he instructed the individual currently operating the science station. “Let us try and gain some warning on what awaits us over the next hill…”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Adam simply nodded his head in acknowledgement and went to the side, finding a console in relative private and opened an encrypted channel with the Starbase, he started by simply asking who had classified the files and made a request for declassification for himself and the Captain.

The response came back as follows:
=^= Your request has been denied. You do not possess the necessary clearance to access any information regarding anomaly ARU-2750. Captain Zachariah Cobb does not possess the necessary clearance to access any information regarding anomaly ARU-2750 =^=

Hitting a wall like this was nothing to stop Adam, he accessed the changelogs and used a few not exactly regulation tricks to see what he could uncover.

A little more ‘unorthodox’ digging, however, would uncover the following:
=^= Anomaly ARU-2750 record last updated on stardate 12107.21 by Admiral William Roebuck =^=

  • Computer

Adam frowned at the screen and started thinking of a way to get the information he needed from where he was.

=^=Raauhl to the CIC please clear a path from the lounge to sickbay we have two.... Unusual Starfleet personnel in need of medical assistance and both are emitting Tachyon radiation=^=

  • Commander Raauhl, XO

=^= Tachyon radiation? =^= Cobb was heard to exclaim over the comms, before responding to Raauhl directly with =^= Copy that, Commander, I’ll have security clear the way. =^=

He glanced back to the remaining bridge crew. “Did I…that is, that thing that was me…did it register any tachyon emissions?” Was it possible that here was a completely different and unconnected anomaly now laying siege to the ship? It was starting to feel, to the old man, as if the Leviathan had stumbled into a trap…

But the time for conspiracy theories would come later. Right now there was duty to perform. =^= Ensign Luna =^= Cobb tapped his commbadge once again, =^= please proceed to the Jörmungandr lounge. We have a potential biohazard that requires transport to the medical bay and I need you to ensure that their path is clear of any wandering crewmembers. =^=

A whiles later Raauhl returned walking through the double doors of the CIC, “Captain. I have an interesting story to tell you if you’re will to hear it, hows things going here?” He asked looking around the CIC just like sickbay everyone here seemed to be just as confused as to the current events unfolded.

  • Commander Raauhl, XO

Zachariah fixed weary eyes on his second in command. “It appears, Mr Raauhl, that someone in the ARU is trying to keep information from us.” He wiped at his brow with a tunic sleeve, then with a grin of resignation added, “I’ll tell you my tale if you tell me yours. You first.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Raauhl chuckled, “Well we currently have two Caitain look alikes who seem to have a very different outlook on recent history than those we perceive. I don’t suppose you’ve ever heard of a Romulan named Nero or the temporal incursion of the Narada?” Before Cobb responded, “Me neither, thier uniforms are unlike any I’ve seen and I suppose the biggest shocker ofcourse is that that they claim Vulcan had been destroyed. I know were put here in the sticks but, I figured we’d hear about that.”

  • Cmdr Raauhl, XO

On the greatly magnified horizon of the viewscreen, the spatial anomaly finally lurched into view, Cobb’s eyes drawn momentarily to the image like a moth to the proverbial flame.
“Are you suggesting, Mr Raauhl,” he mused, “that these intruders are suffering some form of psychotic delusion?”

As Ryder had expressed so succinctly, destruction of a Federation world, particularly one as significant as Vulcan, could not have been hidden from the Leviathan’s crew. Not even by the omnipotent ARU. Still, current events considered, he found himself leaning in to MacReady and murmuring, “Give me a status report on the planet Vulcan, eh?”

But locking eyes once again with the younger Trill, Zachariah dared to venture, “Or do you instead suspect them to have originated from a time or place where such nonsense could risk making sense?”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Now thats the golden goose He thought, “Honestly, it doesn’t make sense for them to stow away onboard or try to infiltrate the ship by coming up with such profound statements. When we found them there was a high level of Tachyon radiation which as we know often is a result of a temporal displacement that said its easy enough to replicate at those levels to fake being involved in a temporal incident.” Ryder let out a long sigh, his head already pounding. “If I was to pull from my own knowledge I would suggest this incident isn’t in fact a time related incident but something more akin to that of the Mirror universe and perhaps another version of ourselves that hopefully for our sake doesn’t involve what we now know is the Terran Empire but a version of Starfleet more aligned to our philosophy of peaceful exploration.” That comment alone almost gave him cause to laugh, since being in Starfleet he’d barely known anything other than peaceful.

“This of course is all based on assumption and no actual proof, but there isn’t any evidence to the contrary either. I believe if I was to use a human term for our guests situations it would be that their situation is FUBAR.” Raauhl, who had seen Cobb’s eyes momentarily glance to the view screen finally decided to do the same, “Well I guess its your time to explain what the hell is that?” He smiled, sometimes the Trill Officer felt that just because they carried the flag of the ARU anomalies were drawn to them like a magnet.

  • Cmdr Raauhl, XO

Adam had listened to the conversation with half an ear, a pair of Catians, or something that looked similar, appearing was an interesting fact but unimportant, the name Nero nudged something in his memory but he could spend time learning about that later. He cleared his throat “Apologies for the interruption, Captain” He did give the first officer a curt nod but continued addressing Cobb “It seems that Admiral William Roebuck classified the information on the anomaly in question. I could use the console in your ready room to contact the man and…” He paused “Request the information” There was no change in his tone but the meaning seemed to shift slightly.
