Durheim moved through the corridors at a swift pace; occasionally checking the chrono in the corner of his vision. He was running behind. Not unexpected, but not ideal - the micro-fusion distributor had been recalcitrant to say the least, and it had taken far longer than the book had suggested to free it for replacement. Predictable results from delayed maintenance, he supposed. Frustrating, but unavoidable at times - hot water was a luxury compared to fresh oxygen.

Truthfully, he hadn’t needed to be present for the work; much less do it himself. But for all that he was Chief Engineer (and expected to delegate accordingly) he had been a technician first, and for far longer. He was drawn to working up close with whatever he had been tasked with; getting his hands dirty and seeing things in person. Sure, he was more than competent with a PaDD and stylus, but that route had always felt… impersonal. Granted, there were downsides and risks to working with one’s hands - and arms, he supposed. But he hadn’t regretted losing his limbs in the moment, nor had he since. And he would gladly do it again - especially since the mechanical versions he now sported had a much higher tolerance for amperage than the default flesh and blood models.

He smiled at his train of thought as he approached his destination, and meeting. The Leviathan had a new command crew now, and he was curious as to how they would approach this most unusual ship. Durheim’s ship; or so he occasionally felt. He knew it was irrational, but after so much sweat and blood… well, perhaps it was normal to feel a sense of kinship with a nominally unfeeling construction. But be that as it may, he knew that this meeting ought to have happened a while ago; and likely would have, under different circumstances. But the meeting is here and now; and so, here I am. He knocked on the door, metal hand ringing loudly.
