An obviously distracted Lt Jahok made his way through the halls of deck 33 to the office of the CNS. Though he managed to avoid bumping into anyone, it was clear his mind was elsewhere. As though on autopilot he pressed the chime outside the CNS’s door to announce his presence. The Lt had scheduled this meeting ahead of time, and despite his distracted state, he was right on time.

“Come in,” Laural Witley called out, the doors automatically opening to the face she’d matched to her schedule. Coming around her desk, the subdued ever present hum of her grav chair accompanying her, she smiled when her eyes landed on the chief of security. “Hello,” she greeted, “I’m Laural Witley. You must be Lieutenant Jahok. Right on time.”

~Doctor Laural Witley, Counselor

“It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance,” Jahok said in his usual overly stiff and formal way. The chief spoke as though each word held weight, and that every person he conversed with was worthy of respect and honor. Something apparent in the way he held himself. With both the proud bearing of a klingon warrior, and the spine-straight, shoulder’s back look of the ideal Starfleet officer. His uniform was crisp and without a hint of a wrinkle. His hair a mane of thick, wavy, deep-brown locks tamed to perfection without any wayward strands. Yet, underneath the noble surface of his outward appearance, was the tension of uncertainty and concern.

“Thank you for taking the time to meet with me,” Jahok said as he stepped into the office and stood before the CNS, “I suspect we shall come to reply upon one another in the time to come.”
