The last portion of the check-in was the mental health stuff. The previous ship took Tom a little more than expected to find its location. The turbo free-fall to the lower deck of this ship, deck 33, where things were unusual to him, again.“So there’re 2 places here, the office and a center?” He questioned his ‘sensors’ between his ‘intakes’. Since this was his first day here, he went to the latter. Perhaps he thought about taking an appointment first. After all, as long as he could walk and talk, there was nothing particularly to worry about. The counselor he had on the Academy ship was a competent one who was impressive. Her office was not only lovely decorated but also the questions she asked were straight-arrowed to his origin of continuing the service, which made him wonder what kind of stuff he would be facing here.
So far, he was ‘impressed, by the security level of the ship in general. And the extended muscles that were potentially amphibious capable. It was a while since the last time he saw them. Some of the plebes were ‘lucky’ to be instructed from them during the field training, which made him miss the Australia time a little bit.
He walked to the center’s door and pushed a circle-shaped object.

The Center, as expected, had a couple of seats for the waiting crews. Here was structured simply like any place on the ship. An NJO at the counter spotted the Ensign and said, “Hi, can I help you?”
“Yes, I want to make an appointment. It’s onboard counseling check.”
“Your rank, name, and department?”
“Ensign Tom Little, Engineering.”
“Hold on… I’m afraid right now we don’t have a spot available. Perhaps you can wait and sit over there?”
“I’m afraid I can’t. I need to settle down my quarters and prepare for tomorrow’s schedule. But why, is the Counselor not available?”
“Well, Ensign. It’s 1,000 vs. one. We are always understaffed. But If you don’t mind, you can use the hologram.”
“Hologram?” Tom was puzzled by what he just heard.
“Here.” The NJO handed him a chip, “This doesn’t count as an official check. But it’s better than nothing right? If a spot becomes available, I’ll let you know. What do you say?”
“Can I save the progress?”
“Oh, hold on…” The NJO took back the chip and replicated another one. “Here, take it. But return it here when you’re done. There’s a holo deck on the upper.” The NJO pointed to the ceiling, “Before you go, remember the Rules of Time Travel?”
Laural cleared her throat loudly as she entered the waiting area, her expression polite, but one eye somehow laser focused on the NJO while the other was now focused on Tom Little. “Hello, Ensign Little. I’m afraid my colleague has mistaken my trip to the restroom as me absconding for the day. I am indeed available and would be happy to see you. We’ll straighten out the misunderstanding later,” she added, her tone making it clear the NJO was not going to like that conversation.
