One of the few things Surda liked about Starbase 237 was the enormous environmental training area for Security. They varied from Vulcan desert to Risan ocean, but this particular sector was her favorite: a pine forest from Earth. The air was slightly chilled, but hopefully a comfortable medium between her warm home planet and the biology of her appointment. Surda had arranged a meeting with her newest officer, a Gunnery Sergeant Ch’rirel, but he still had several minutes to 1330. With that in mind, she closed her eyes and basked in the artificial sunlight reflecting off the lake in front of her, waiting for his arrival on the pine needle covered forest floor.

Arrow wasn’t too excited or happy about having a Fleeter being his new boss. The fact that she was female made no difference. Nor her species. It was just that Starfleet annoyed him with all the by the book regulations. Marines were more caviller, by the seat of your pants, take no prisoners, oorah, devil dogs. Starfleet was.......soft. Too soft. This unit though, RTF, that was rumoured to be a different kettle of fish. These men and women were said to be made of Teflon with nerves of steel. The most elite military force in Starfleet. For Arrow, he had serious doubt. As did the Corp. Unknown to Surda or Cobb, Gunny had another purpose for accepting this assignment to the Leviathan. For now, he would patiently gather intel and hopefully Surda’s trust.

Finding the security training areas had been rather easy as this was not his first time on the starbase. As the doors swished open, warm air mixed with the stench of pine reached his nostrils, antennas flickered in annoyance. Stepping carefully as to not make crunching sounds on the bed of needles beneath his boots, Arrow moved his feet toes touching first, followed by a quick and deliberate twist of the rest of his foot. Stopping just out of her reach and striking distance directly behind her, Arrow waited for Surda to acknowledge his presences.

OOC: Sorry that took so long. I am having lots of problems with my laptop. I am going to take it to the shop, so not sure how long it will be until I can post again. Thanks for your patience ----Ty

Surda opened her eyes, smoothly rising to her feet and smiling. “Gunny,” she greeted, tilting her head to keep the artificial sunlight out of her eyes. “I see you had no problem finding the place.” She looked up at him, then spoke with a grand gesture to the training area. “Would you prefer to take a seat, or walk and talk?” She knew the high expectstions of spec ops, and recognized her gentler approach may not go over well. Nonetheless, she’d decided to go ahead with it.

Arrow’s antennas flickered back and then forward slowly. And then repeated before resting straight matching the stiffness of his entire body’s posture. Without moving his eyes, he gave her a once over with his peripheral vision, drawing his mouth up in one corner and the squinting his eyes smaller but not closed. Orion female. He let out a sharp exhale through closed lips. Proportionately pleasing to the male gaze and symmetrical facial features. Attractive and luring heightened with pheromones. Even the most disciplined Marine would fall prey to her measures. At least she wasn’t pink skinned he mused and let his lip relax back to a neutral position. “Marines do not sit. I propose a run with a pace that will allow sufficient breathing to talk. Ma’am.”

OOC: sorry, I’ve just now managed to get back on to the site!

Surda rolled her eyes, fully aware of Arrow’s scrutiny. She wasn’t offended of course, as that was what she had called him for, but it prickled nonetheless. “Of course.” She had, of course, picked an area specifically designed to give Arrow an advantage, one he would recognize. As hardy as Orions were, they were not designed for the cold. “Let’s get running then.” She began to walk, waiting for him to follow before she sped up into a jog. “So why the Leviathan Gunny? Requested…” she raised an eyebrow “or assigned?”
