“I wish I could say that. Unless with a doctor’s approval.” Tom smirked politely. “Once upon a time, the ship I served contaminated by a real sauce from Klingon culture. It started from human crews who consumed it, and then it mutated fastly and spread a new kind of disease to the ship. I appreciate the hospitality though.” He then said, “Would you guys like something to drink? I’ll bring some.”

Little, Eng

Kit laughed aloud, “I can assure you it is Starfleet approved. My mother has made this exact dish for the Commander of Starbase Serengeti. Trust me Starfleet Medical, Science, Security, and Intelligence all did a thorough review of the dish. I just think you are scared to eat insects.” she teased.

“Oh, my ga I’m so scared!” Tom ironically played around with the tone. “Somebody help~!” He then stood up and maybe went for another round of a drink.

Little, Eng

“Sure, why not make me a Mind Meld, it goes well with the dish.” said Kit, with her most charming smile. She then went to simmering the food until she was happy with how the dish appeared.

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

Jackson’s ears perked up at the mention of a mind meld, even in jest.

~ Jackson Pryce - Scientist

Tom nodded to her and went to a replicator. This time he brought a wooden colored tray with 3 drinks. “I didn’t know they had a drink named ‘mint melt’. Here you are.” Then he offered another one to Mr. Jackson. The drink was covered by a glass, decorated with several mints and a slice of lemon on the tip, with straw around some floating cubes. He waved to the gentleman, “You also a Science officer? Tom Little here from Engineering, a pleasure to meet you.”

Little, Eng

Kit dished out more of the meal to her compatriots. Looking at Mister Pryce she said, “You do know what a Mind Meld is don’t you?” she inquired.

Jackson accepted the glass, inclining his head to Tom. “Indeed. And you. Anything of interest going on down in the belly of the beast?”

Far from a beast, he thought, before responding in turn to the CSO. “I do. Never done one, never will. But they’re fascinating.”

~ Jackson Pryce - Scientist

“Speaking of fascinating, I did.” Tom sat next to Pryce and paid a visit. “I’ve never been to a ship like this tight security before. Even though I was sort of informed that this is a daily basis.” He looked around as if someone was watching them, and smirked. “Getting used to the ‘Red Alert’ every day.” During the transfer process, he received a redacted ‘invitation’ letter which could barely read the details of the assignment. But soon, he found that the readiness from the middle and the lower decks were just beyond his imagination. “Fascinating, you said? Was something going on there?” He then took a sip.

Little, Eng

“Nothing of matter,” he replied, somewhat cryptically.

Kit laughed, “I am talking about an alcoholic beverage, not the Vulcan Mind Meld. As for the interesting things going on in the ‘Belly of the Beast”, let’s just say have you ever read any of the Earth author H.P. Lovecraft’s novels? Seems this ship attracts those types of situations.”

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

“Ah. Well, the answer is still no, but present one and I’ll give it a try. And I am familiar with some of Lovercraft’s work.” In fact, he’d made some comparisons to Lovecraftian creations in some of his past writings.

~ Jackson Pryce - Scientist

“Well then, there you have it. The USS Leviathan and her crew are the front line defense and researchers on the universes actual Lovecraftian Creatures and may the Thousand Gods watch over us.” Replied Kit. “I for one am glad I am not this ship’s counsellor.” She said with a laugh. “Can you imagine having to ‘counsel’ the crew, talk us through logically the insane things we encounter.”

-Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

“Not really. I wondered how the counselor could stay sane all the time. I mean what happens if the doctor gets sick?” Before Tom said those things, he looked around and was sure the Chief wasn’t around them.

Little, Eng

Kit nodded and replied “My point exactly. The medical and counselling have an extremely tough job on this ship.”

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

“One would imagine our counselor to be trained specifically to deal with anomalous encounters,” Jackson pointed out. Conversational reference, make a connection, he thought. “Perhaps they were made to read Lovecraft.”

~ Ensign Pryce - Scientist

Kitiuas laughed “Oh, what a wonderful classroom assignment for a counselor. I can see it now ‘Now class as you will see in the syllabus part of your reading assignments are the works of Lovecraft, you will be expected to write a paper on applied counseling in regards to Lovecraftian exposure.’ I could just picture the looks the students would have, probably think their instructor needs to be committed” she said laughing. “No offense, I guess the counselors do have all the fun classroom assignments when they go to Starfleet Academy.”

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

Tom heard the word and tried not to spill the drink while his chest was shaking, “Surely they had. Or what keeps them still here? More fun maybe?” The class assignment reminded him of an essay he had to write before joining the fleet, which was nothing but a reason to be here.

Little, Eng

Kit chuckled, “What keeps them here is their morbid fascination in studying the insane individual beings that make u this crew. I mean what better place to observe the insane in their ’natural’ environment than here.”

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

“Now you said about sanity.” Tom started to wonder, “I’m curious. How could you stay sane in the lab with you know, what you are doing?” Studying creatures wasn’t his thing unless the ship counted as a lifeform. However, he did show some interest in Kit’s work.

Little, Eng

Kit chuckled “I have Ph.D.’s in Entomology and Arachnology, the study of insects and arachnids, as well as Ecology. I am a Doctor of Metaphysical Science of Cryptozoology and Hominology, the study of undiscovered animals and uncatalogued, unclassified and unrecognized hominoids. I also have a few master degrees and lesser degrees. Hence the reason I am called the Monster Hunter. I chase after and try to classify things most people want to stay away from.”

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

“You’re like, everywhere then.” Tom smiled and took a sip. “Lieutenant J G by day and a doctor by night?” He then offered an imaginary microphone to her and interviewed her. “Any expectations for this journey? Ms. Monster Hunter?”

Little, Eng

Kit smiled and laughed “Sure there are exceptions. I DO NOT DO WINDOWS” she said in mock seriousness. “Captain could order me to and I would take a court martial instead.” She said bursting out in laughter.

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

“What? Okay, I guess?” Tom smiled with an a-not-really-sure-how-to-respond-to-that expression and said. “Well, if you ever get caught, just plea no guilty until the end. And call a ship’s lawyer. Wait, do we have one?”

Little, Eng

Kit shook her head “Absolutely not. This is a Black Ops ship. Starfleet Command has no desire for any JAG officer snooping in on what we do. Damn hard to explain why we violated the enigmas we find their rights. A JAG officer would insist they be given proper representation, even if what we found could destroy an entire half of the galaxy and had plans to do so.” Replied Lieutenant Thenis. “Remember how secretive your orders were. Now imagine how a JAG officer would take them, remember these are Lawyers.”

-Lieutenant j.g. Kitiuas Thenis, CSO

“Lawyers, cheer to the lawyers.” Tom sarcastically smirked and sipped. “You’re the CSO now, I suppose you get to see the redacted part of the document?” Tom remembered they had this conversation once upon a time in Sickbay A. He kept his one in the tightly secured sea bag. One of the best things to get promoted was probably having quarters without shipmates. Here even that was a luxury.

Little, Eng
