John was in the process of making himself at home in his lab. It was going to take a little getting used to the internal airlock. It was no comfort to him to know that in an emergency situation the whole lab could either be jettisoned or opened up to space. The airlock’s primary function was to serve as a decontamination chamber designed to protect the rest of the ship. Having planted the suggestion that the Captain could visit the lab, John wondered how long it would be before he did.
John was in the process of making the desk space in the small, but private office his own. He had not had his own space since he had served as the Vikings CMO.
A small frame contained a pair of pictures. One contained a picture of John as a child with his father and uncle. His relatives were identical twins and at the time that the picture was taken they both looked almost identical to how John looked now. The other showed an image of John as a young man standing shoulder to shoulder with a slightly younger blue eyed Japanese man with bright lilac hair. The back drop was a peaceful beach with the sun setting of the calm blue waters.
John gazed at the photo. He loved Reira but that was exactly why he stayed away from the younger man…
