Jessie Gets Her Head Checked

“Well no, cleaning cages isn’t exciting for anyone I would imagine. I was just wondering if your studies included exo-zoology. But you’ve answered that question. You should talk to Dr. Kastil. She’s brilliant and I’m sure would love to converse about genetics. She has quite the team in the medical bay. What will your doctoral be on?” She glanced at Jessie’s file, “I didn’t realize you were on RTF. I thought I read here in your file that you were ARU? Well if you are on the RTF team then I’m sure M. Cpt. Manhattan will have plenty of work for you to do.” Keeping her face calm she made a decision. She was having Doc Fey put this poor girl on hormone suppression therapy. If she was Vulcan, Casela would swear she was in the middle of Pon Far.

“Well, I am not with the RTF. Not yet anyway. But I want to do that too if I can. That’s the real reason I joined the Levi. I can follow my passion for science, but still get the chance for some excitement and perhaps combat fitting a Klingon,” Jessie said. She often liked to over exaggerate her level of just how much Klingon was actually in her DNA and blood. That entire subject was not a reality check the woman was interested in talking about though. “I haven’t actually meet Captain Manhattan as of yet. Maybe if I ever get caught up on my work.....”

“Well 2nd squardron meets at 2000 to 2300 hours every day in holosuite 4 for training. They also are ALWAYS in the lounge afterwards. I’d be happy to introduce you to him. And there are a couple of Klingon members that may be willing to spare you their extra time for some sparing. Let me know if you’d like to meet M. Cpt Manhattan,” Casela thought it was an excellent idea. Manhattan wanted fresh, strong, capable new people in his ranks. Jessie might fit that bill.

“That would be amazing!” Jessie said standing up and slapping her palm against the coffee table. She stopped just short of letting out a long howl. Her cane rows bounced from side to side as the young science officer’s enthusiasm over spilled. Flashing her crooked teeth, “Klingons you say? I hope they are some attractive female ones. And younger. Old Klingon women are mean.”

“Last question for you, based on your position on this ship, what challenge do you think will stop you from achieving your goal of getting your doctorate and becoming and officer?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

“Nothing. I am determined to succeed at my duty and find a suitable mate by the end of this cruise,” Jessie answered without a pause. She starred straight and intently at the Betazoid before leaning her head all the way back and letting out a full belly laugh. After a few seconds of laughter, Jessie returned her head towards the counsellor. and smiled through crooked sharp teeth, “Don’t worry counsellor. I will stay away from the fragile humans. My duty and studies come first.”

Casela cracked a half grin. “Don’t rule human out Polizzi. There have been many human/klingon relationships. It is becoming more and ore the norm, so there must be a spine of steel in some of them. I’m sure you’ll find someone.” Casela made a note on her PaDD. “Alright Crewman, make sure you let me know if you need your schedule adjusted for your studies, and we’ll make that happen. Do you have any questions for me?” Casela waited, calm and cool. There was NO telling what Polizzi was going to say.

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

“No I sure don’t. Am I free and cleared for duty then? I still need to unpack my gear and meet my roommates. I hate being a low ranked noncom. You have no idea how lucky you are to have a room to yourself,” Jessie said already headed for the door. There was a rumour that some Klingons had smuggled crates of real blood wine into one of the yet unused cargo bays. Tonight’s party might empty most of the stores though. She didn’t want to miss out in case none was left for the remainder of the cruise. Dang it. She looked back over her shoulder. Jessie had forgotten she wasn’t supposed to think about that as the counsellor could read her mind. Turning around slowly, Jessie paused and waited holding her breath.
