The cargo bay which was dark and quiet except for the dimly glowing red alert strip lighting suddenly erupted into a bright hue of colors as the Away team materialized in the center of the room. The first thing they would notice was that the air temperature was slightly above what they would be used to, inviting tiredness and the gravity had also been seemingly lightened. Everything seemed to invite the idea of sleep.

In the cargo bay itself, there wasn’t a soul to be found, and after the final transport was successful the room returned to its dark and cozy environment, the only change was the collective breathing and noise of the away team, it was eerily quiet.

  • Mission Director

Doctor Korvoh quickly pulled out and started using the tricorder once he was materialized in, scanning for signs of life, unusual pathogens, or any other anomalies with the atmosphere. In the dim lighting, the googles provided limited visuals for the room and the tricorder being designed for complete dark, though they are probably slightly better off than someone coming in used to bright light rooms. The doctor also made sure to make occasional scans of the other away team members to monitor their neural chemistry in the event that they become affected by the anomaly.

  • NEnsign Korvoh

Hampton quickly unsaddled the field generator and put it on the floor. He entered several commands into the control pad on his arm and turned to Manhattan. “The generator at walking pace within five feet of myself.” He explained. Looking around his hand rested on his phaser, but he did not pull it out. “What’s the plan Captain?” He asked Manhattan.

Lt. William Hampton- CE

“I guess we don’t have much here… so let’s get to the bridge first and see if we can recover the board logs. Remember you are authorized to fire with your weapons only if you think it is worth the risk.” Taking out the torch from the kit, he then distributed the team of other torches and conventional bullets rail-handgun. He knew that some anomalies weren’t affected by phasic weapons and it was best to be prepared for everything “5 feet, uh? Let’g get moving.” He signaled the team toward a random direction “Remember me to pass by the environmental control. We need to fix this sleepy problem.”

M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO

Irida bounced on the balls of her feet. The whole place was creepy, but that was nothing new when serving with RTF. The bouncing kept her awake despite the mood and environmental controls that seemed to be aimed at making them fall asleep. She moved into her forward position, staying neatly within her range of the shield, Her Mark VII baton out and moving down the corridor looking for a way to the bridge.

Still shaken by the incident in the transporter room and his intended dose of the innoculation, NE Blair remained at the rear of the group, scurrying nervously to keep up and constantly looking over his shoulder.

Hampton approached the cargo bay door, phaser still holstered. He punched in several buttons and took a several steps back, waiting to see if there was anything behind the doors as they opened.

Lt. William Hampton- CE

The door opened with no sign of malfunction, beyond the now opens doors the corridor in either direction was dark except for the red striped lights that intermittently grew in brightness before dimming just like the cargo bays. The same environmental conditions were present here too and there was the chilling eery silence.

  • LCARS

Irida looked up and down the corridor, orienting herself based on the layouts they had used during training. She turned left towards the turbolift that would take them towards the bridge. “Cpt. Manhattan, that turbolift will take us directly to the bridge, Sir.” She stayed inside the range of the shield, but as far as it would let her get to the front of the group. She turned back, assessing the speed of the other members and then moved down the corridor.
Irida, RTF

“Yeah it seems like so. I would say let’s split but- yeah you know what. Team let’s go.” He pointed the turbolift. As they came along the width of the doors, Manhattan waited for them to slid open and entered the shaft “Computer, Bridge?” He asked dubious to the shipboard computer.

M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO

Hampton looked at the captain with contempt. “We can’t split up sir, We have to stay within range of the force field.” He shook his head in disgust. ‘Moron is going to get us killed.’ He thought to himself as he made his way out of the cargo bay.

Lt. William Hampton- CE

Irida pipes up, “If we split, I’m staying with Hampton and his shield.” She stands to the side of the turbolift until everyone is in and then steps in. The turbo lift opens at the bridge and she steps out slowly looking around.
Irida, RTF

As they step out onto the bridge they feel as if the floor is ripped from out of them, much like you would when falling asleep and you get that ‘falling feeling.’ From every at once an impish giggle could be heard followed by a scream before it was silent again. If anyone was paying particular notice they would note that something was different, it felt different but that’s all it was, a gut feeling.

  • LCARS

“That’s peculiar,” Icarus commented, while scanning the bridge with his rifle.

NEnsign Korvoh turned his tricorder to the team and began a deep scan of the member’s brain chemistry, specifically the ones that had been inoculated. He was concerned that the inoculation may not be helping and wanted to understand why.

  • NEnsign Korvoh

As the Ensign scanned the tricorder feed remained blank as if he was scanning nothing until finally, it beeped indicating the scan was finished and nothing had been registered.

At the back of the group, Blair’s anxiety seemed to be increasing with every step.
“I don’t like this,” he wailed, moving up close to Manhattan as if the RTF chief could offer additional protection. “It…it feels like I’m floating.”

  • NE Blair (Scientist)

“Keep it together, Blair. Focus on what you’re doing.”

The CIO moved to the nearest console and tried to access it’s controls, hoping to get into the environmental controls.

To no one in particular, he asked, “Is there any data on any type of anomaly that likes temps warmer and gravity lighter? Any kind of reerence on what we MIGHT be dealing with?”
