GLaDOS knelt by Chell and Wheatley’s cage, quietly petting the white rabbit as she munched on a leaf of lettuce. She approved of her crew’s decision to bring the rabbits aboard, it was good to have companion animals for the sake of helping people to feel more relaxed and de-stressed, and rabbits were easy to care for. Plus, she had a long and storied history with these rabbits in particular, having rescued them from a lab in the bowels of the Viking. They were getting a little older, but they were still spritely enough.

She glanced at the door as it slid open and a young human male stepped in. “Ensign Jonah,” she acknowledged.

“Lt. Cmdr. I’m here for the meeting?” NE Jonah replied.

“That’s not for another ten minutes, so technically you are early.”

“Well I’m not on duty so I figured I’d just show up early.”

“Understood.”

The two stopped their conversation and sat in silence until the next arrival. GLaDOS had sent a message to her entire science crew, including a few of the Novel Researchers. This meeting was like the first day of class. She wanted her people to feel comfortable around one another, to be able to be friends and colleagues instead of just people who happened to work in the same department.

Her other reason was that there were a few members of the science team she hadn’t personally met yet and she wanted to get a bead on them.

GLaDOS, CSO

Echo walked in, a PaDD tucked under one arm, still uneasy about all the quiet. “Commander GLaDOS?” He asked, as he walked in. He’d read up on the crew during his journey here, and didn’t want to make a complete fool of himself.

Ens Echo

The CSO stood up and looked at Echo with an odd expression, reading his posture and expression. GLaDOS scanned Echo with her bionic eye, then turned away to step over to the table that NE Jonah was already sitting at. “Ensign Echo. No surname. No history. You seem uneasy about something.” She was quiet for a moment, listening to the quiet creaks and mechanical sounds of the ship. She wasn’t nearly as creaky as Viking, and GLaDOS found the quiet to be comforting. “My aim in today’s meeting is to help my crew become more comfortable with one another and their place on the ship, so please… tell me what is wrong.”

If the general silence of the ship made Echo uneasy, GLaDOS was sure to give him some kind of a fright. Over six feet tall, face peppered with metallic patches with glowing green bits and obvious Borg components, along with a slightly glowing orange eye and a Borg arm, she was a sight to behold.

GLaDOS, CSO

Echo took a reflex step back upon taking in her appearance, remembering the studies of the Borg he did at the academy. He quickly recovered, however. “It’s just being…here. Now. I can’t really explain what it’s like, to be honest with you, to be somewhere, and not remembering why. Or who you really are. It’s not something I can exactly explain.” He said quietly, remembering when he woke up back on the Geneva.

Ens Echo

GLaDOS let out a small laugh. “I can understand better than you assume. I am former Borg. I recall quite well the feeling of waking up with no concept of identity or past.”

Calliopewas next to enter the room, the young Grecian woman who’s first posting would be straight into the RTF was positively charged with energy even her gait carried a level of positivity and nativity any new ensign would have. “Hello!” She said in a heavily accented greek tone waving. “Ensign Lykaios though” She looked around, “If you’d like you can call me Cali after my first name Calliope her smile beamed as if to cast a glow over the group already gathered.

  • Ens Calliope Lykaios

“Good to meet you, Lykaios,” Glados said with a small nod to the woman. A few more people arrived. A Bolian woman. A few humans. An Andorian. She greeted each one individually.

Jessie was not sure she her attendance was required or not and erred on the side of caution. Standing nearly six feet, the tall muscular quarter Klingon was dressed in red coveralls that were about three inches two short, black work boots and a Leviathan baseball cap turned backwards. Long jet black cane rows hung loosely and half wildly down her back matched her dark complexion. On her left cheek was a fresh deep scratch still trickling a small amount of blood. The Klingon growled at a couple of other crewman and nodded to others as she made her way to the front of the team. Falling into a group, she remained silent and waited to see what the meeting was about jsut as she caught sight of her new boss. A Borg? Well, that was unexpected. Jessie stiffened her shoulders and took on a half warrior stance preparing for a fight if needed.

Crewman Jessie Polizzi, Science

GLaDOS caught sight of Polizzi and gave her a once-over, intrigued by the woman. “Crewman Polizzi. Thank you for coming,” she spoke.

GLaDOS, CSO

“It is my duty and my pleasure, ‘Ma’am,” Jessie said bowing her head towards her commanding officer. Even though Jessie had known the woman was a Borg, seeing her face to face for the first time was a bit unnerving. And intriguing. Curious as she was about the woman, even the crewman knew better than to ask the question that was on the tip of her tongue, begging to escape her lips. Getting another black mark on her record was not a good idea at this time. Or another night in the brig. Nope. She was keeping that to herself. For now. Instead, she asked a less personal question. “Why are we here, ‘Ma’am? Not that I mind a break from those stinking cages, but I am a little hungry.”

Polizzi, Science

The young Grecian, Calliope was also in part interested as to why they had all been summoned though wasn’t going to voice it like the Klingon crewman that being said she did like her style, Klingons females had a lot more in common with Grecian females than she liked to admit.

OOC: Andromeda changed to Calliope.

  • Ens. Calliope Lykaios

“Ta matia sou Dekatessera,” Jessie said taking a long glance at the sun kissed woman next to her. It was a saying she had heard in Greece on a holiday with friends. Translated roughly to something like you have fourteen eyes. And Klingons had weird sayings? Standing up straight then relaxing her shoulders, Jessie considered if she should spit or not. Thinking back to her conversation and advice from the XO, she decided it might be too forward. Instead she made a ‘c’ with her hand and turned it towards herself, hoping she had the hand gesture correctly and said in a hushed voice hoping the CSO did not hear, “there’s a secret Klingon party later. If you want I can get you in.”

Polizzi, Science

After a few more crewmembers had filtered into the room, GLaDOS clapped her hands together a few times to silence the room. “Please, everyone take a seat if you haven’t already.”

In the center of the room was a large circular table, with enough chairs to go around. A holographic display in the center meant anything needed could be displayed. GLaDOS chose an unoccupied chair and sat down. “Okay, thank you all for coming to this meeting. I know a lot of people think that meetings are a waste of time, but I hope that we can make this meeting useful and helpful. I know some of you already, and I’m sure most of you know me by reputation. After all, it’s not every day that the CSO is an Ex-Borg. I’m GLaDOS, and yes I am named after the video game character. As your Chief, I will be around in all of the Labs, but I mainly do my work in Labs 4, 5, and 8, along with my office. Behind me are Chell (the white rabbit) and Wheatley (the brown rabbit). They are basically class pets, and I ask anyone who wishes to participate in their care schedule to sign up on the clipboard next to their enclosure. If you need to de-stress, feel free to come in here and spend time with them. They are friendly, but I don’t suggest trying to handle them unless an established handler has helped them to recognize you as not a threat. A list of certified handlers is pinned on the corkboard next to their enclosure.”

GLaDOS turned to her left, where Misana Kahl was sitting. “Please, introduce yourself. Any information that you think is relevant, plus where you will be doing most of your work in the non-anomalous Labs.”

GLaDOS, Friendly CSO

OOC: a reminder to the crew as to the (non anomalous) Science Labs layout:
Lab 1 - Science Conference Room
Lab 2 - Zoology/Veterinary Science
Lab 3 - Anthropology/Archaeology
Lab 4 - Biology/Biotech (collab with medical here)
Lab 5 - Computer Science/Cryptology/Cybernetics (collab with engineering here)
Lab 6 - Horticulture
Lab 7 - Astronomy
Lab 8 - Chemistry (Organic/Inorganic/Biochem)

You can say that again Jessie thought as she gave the Borg a once over. No one in their right mind would cross this woman. Not even a brave Klingon warrior. The young crewman stretched again to her full height, then hunkered down a bit least she appeared to be challenging her superior. Letting out a low whistle, the Klingon expressed her admiration for the CSO’s own warrior abilities.  It was an instant level of respect well earned. No messing about, Jessie reminded herself. Rabbit pets though? That was a bit if a surprise. To Jessie, they looked pretty tasty, but she doubted the Borg would be happy if she had them for dinner.

“Petty Officer Jessie Polizzi, sir. It’s an honour to serve under you. Currently I am a Novel Researcher. Been cleaning cages and caring for the lab animals. Can’t wait until we get an actual anomaly in though so we can do some proper research. I am studying ecology and evolution with a genetics emphasises. Hoping to finish my Doctorate in a couple of years and become commissioned. You know, if I live long enough.” Jessie said as she struggled to get her knees situated under the desk.

Polizzi, Science

GLaDOS glanced around after giving Polizzi a small nod, looking at the next person in the group to compel them to speak up.
