“Sir,” Jasmine said getting comfortable in her seat as the XO entered her shuttle. She also pulled out a PaDD. It would take a bit for the shuttle to lift off so she decided to relax a bit before things got hairy so to speak. “Hey Heinrich…question for you,” Jasmine asked looking at the CSO. “What’s your favorite color? Red, blue, yellow, green, white or black,” she asked him and looked up for his answer.

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

IC: Zimmermann glared in a bewildered fashion at Wynter as she asked the rather oblique question, before shaking that feeling off and pondering a suitable answer. “Err… Green? I’m not sure I follow the purpose of this, lieutenant…” Now vaguely intrigued at the possibilities of what this conversation could evolve into, the CSO turned to face the CMO, raising an eyebrow, speaking again with a slightly humorous tone.

“You don’t need to,” Jasmine said marking down his answer on the PaDD.

“Why do you ask, mein doctor? Is this some psychological exam I am yet to catch up on?”

Lieutenant Heinrich Zimmermann,
Chief Science Officer

“Yes a very important one that will help me figure out what makes you tick. I am taking a correspondence course in psychology,” Jasmine said in a serious tone but herr smile indicated she was very much teasing. “Okay so question number two,” she wiggled a bit in her seat before settling back. If you had to pick one place to live where would it be? Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, New York City, Switzerland, or South Africa?”

Lt. Jasmine Wynter CMO

The senior scientist’s eyebrow somehow raised further at the suggestion of the CMO participating in a remote learning course on psychology, before dealing a subtle jab. “Ja, and I’m sure it’s going as well as my correspondence course in forensic physics…” Whatever Wynter was up to, it was sure to be completely and utterly unorthodox!

“You mean like ballistics or ancient aliens,” Jasmine looked at Heinrich with one eyebrow arched. The criminal application of tracing projectiles based on the trajectories was an easy assumption, except those flying bits of metal or plasma were not conducive to hull integrity. It also made the security department, XO, and CO a bit hot under the collar if you had to report ‘Sir we got a problem. Ensign Bunky Jo and Ensign Jedidiah just shot out the window in the rec room with their BB gun.’ In this scenario, you probably didn’t need the forensic physicist because it would be more of a murder trial as the command staff strangled you with their bare hands or turned you to stone with a withering gaze.

“In your spare time do you use your knowledge of physics to prove that the pyramids of earth could not have been built without physics or are you the type that says some celestial l race came, gave us the tech, and then skittered off into the night?”

Pondering the options some more, Heinrich began to eliminate the locations one by one, aloud. “Well, my last symposium was in South Africa - I can’t say I too much like what they have done with the architecture there. Plus, similar to the Australians and New Zealanders, they have far too much of an accent; that’s those three eliminated, I suppose.” Zimmermann’s words were heavily tinted with a German accent, making the claims all the more humorous - but of course, his jesting tone suggested he knew that.

“Hmm… Fiji seems too tropical and exotic - but on the contrary, New York seems far too pedestrian a choice, pardon the pun. I suppose that just leaves Switzerland, by process of elimination…” The sly smile on the CSO’s face alluded to the fact that there may have been reason to believe the Swiss had his vote all along.

“Are you sure that is why you piked Switzerland,” Jasmine looked at Heinrich a bit more skeptically and studied his coif. She did not know much about Heinrich but she knew Giorgio A. Tsoukalos. Everyone knew his hair. Heinrich’s love of physics, his retirement dream of Switzerland and secret hobby of ancient physics might be even more telling than this quiz.

“That, or the fact it’s a hub for every noteworthy physicist. Not that it swayed my decision… that much.” Heinrich beamed at Jasmine, awaiting her reaction - and her next question.

Lieutenant Heinrich Zimmermann,
Chief Science Officer

“Okay next one,” Jasmine looked at the PaDD. “What is your favorite day of the week minus Sunday?”

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

IC: The CSO mulled the thought over in his mind, pondering what each day of the week entailed. The Manhattan was a Starfleet vessel; as such, the senior scientist, as a department head, was literally always on call at a minute’s notice - so much for weekends being a welcome respite, even if it did come with relaxed duties. Still, the Monday after a weekend had most of his department refreshed from these relaxed standards, right and ready for Zimmermann to act as a slave driver for them… metaphorically speaking, of course!

“I must say, doctor, that the Monday after a particularly restful weekend would be my top pick. Doubly so if there was some extra time off on the Friday!” The German continued his beaming smile from his last response, before stating his reasoning to the CMO. “You see, lieutenant - people work best after a day or two (or three, if I’m lucky!) of rest - so much so that productivity skyrockets, ten- or twenty-fold.”

Raising an eyebrow, and seemingly thinking up a suggestion for Wynter in his mind, Heinrich mused, “You know, you could probably run a psychological observation experiment on my department, to see if that has any actual basis in medical science. Perhaps we could inform the CO - it could be an interesting thesis to submit…”

A hearty chuckle and a cheeky grin had the CSO speak a final time, “…or, perhaps, it may even get us some more time off!”

Lieutenant Heinrich Zimmermann,
Chief Science Officer

“We could all use that and I so need a honeymoon,” Jasmine laughed. “My mom always called me a whirling dervish because I can rarely sit still.” Punching his answers into her PaDD, Jasmine continued on with the next question. “So Mr. Monday is my happy day what element do you connect most with: water, fire, air, or Earth. Oh and you can choose light or dark though is you say dark I might think you are leading to maniacal evil scientist,” she winked at him. “Oh yeah....I do silently judge just like everyone else. The difference with me is that I admit it,” she winked at the CSO as she waited for his reply.
