Adjusting the bag yet again, Faye was starting to think she’d need a massage for her shoulder after lugging her stupid bag around the ship with her. Hopefully her quarters would be ready after this so she could at least stow it somewhere appropriate. She wasn’t prepared to leave it somewhere random though, so for now, it was glued to her for the bulk of the day.

Stepping through the doors into the medical bay, the teal-haired scientist noted that she didn’t feel any anxiety about the space the way she might have a few years ago. though, that might change once she talked with someone and they had even a glimpse at her medical history. At least she had already re-stocked her meds on the way over, so that part wasn’t a concern.

Faye reached out and gently stopped someone. “Uh, hi. Do you know if anyone if free to do a physical?”

“I can help you. Your Calloway correct,” Jasmine looked at the woman standing in her sickbay. “I got your medical records a few hours ago from a Dr Ryley on the Atlantis. Welcome aboard. Come over here and I will see what I can do to finish checking you in and on your way,” jasmine said gesturing to a bio bed.

“Such service,” Faye said with a lopsided grin moving over to the biobed. She dumped her duffle bag at the base of the bed and hopped up. “Since you know who I am, I bet you had a super fun time reading that record of mine. If people didn’t know better they might think it a piece of fiction. Unfortunately for me, I can confirm its veracity,” she said with a mix of dry sarcasm and light humour.

“So what brought you to this corner of the universe,” Jasmine said scanning Calloway. She had read the file and was concerned over the Borderline Personality Disorder. People with this tended to view life in extremes of all good to all bad. Patients with this had little middle ground to see a differing perspective. Jasmine was most worried about the possibility of Faye exhibiting stress-related paranoia and loss of contact with reality. This facet of the disorder could make someone a friend one day and an enemy the next resulting in often intense and unstable relationships. However, Jasmine was not the counselor and unless she had a mental break, the problem was Cunningham’s and not hers. Jasmine would just try to make the woman feel welcomed on the ship and leave the diagnosis as a footnote in the medical chart where she discovered it.

Faye was leaned back slightly with her hands bracing herself on the biobed while the tricorder did its thing. “Well, as fate would have it, some of my lesser known and practiced skills are in high demand these days and I was looking for a change anyway. I had expected that change to happen on my last ship, but I got the call about this position and was told to pack my bags.” She shrugged. “Arguing with Starfleet tends to go badly for junior officers, so I’m treating this like a fateful coincidence,” she said with a grin.

Her scans would come back clean. Her meds were in the expected range and her vitals were strong. Aside from some evidence of lack of sleep, Calloway was in reasonably good health, especially considering her baseline point when she had been rescued by the USS Atlantis.

“Well we are happy to have you,” Jasmine said good-naturedly. Reading the scans, Wynter was happy with the results. “Your levels are fine and vitals within normal limits as hoped and expected,” she pulled out her stylus. “I wish all my check-ins went this smoothly. So you don’t think you will be bored on a ship this small,” Jasmine chit chatted signing off on a few lines. “The Atlantis is a nice ship I hear. I have a friend on there. Ethan Nash,” she said letting the name hang in the air for a moment. Mintara Prime was not a small planet but it was not enormous either and only a few people left to join Starfleet. This coupled with the man’s past history and court marshall over the event of the colony did make him a celebrity of sorts within their planet. Jasmine had met him once or twice and found him charmingly roguish. They were not close enough to have contact but maybe Faye could give her a few words on how he was doing.
