Xeal felt that it was time to meet his entire staff. All but one was new onboard and he wanted to make sure everyone knew their duties in and out. But it was important that everyone knew that they can count on each other if need be. Team building skills was important for not only moral but in intense situations that come up from time to time. It helps people be calm and focuses their minds. Which is why he had booked the holodeck for after the meeting.

=/\=Lieutenant Xeal Loss to all science officers please meet me in the lounge for a meeting in 30 minuets. =/\=

LT - Xeal Loss - CSO

Monsant had just finished placing belongings in the quarters he would be using, when the orders came in through his com-badge. Well, that would take care of meeting the boss anyway.

=/\= Acknowledged =/\= he answered, and turned to the small mirror in his quarters. Assured that he was at least presentable, he decided to take a slow stroll around the ship, that would still allow him to arrive at the lounge a couple minutes early.

When the Ensign arrived Xeal was please to see that the man was punctual. It was important to him that his staff were on time.

Xeal waited patiently for the man to come to him. In the mean time he began to pick at the assortment of food he had ordered for his staff.

OOC: Welcome Mike, Just a friendly reminder to sign off on your post like I have above. Thanks.

Robert “Ducky” Thompson

OOC: Will do, thanks.

A few minutes before the proscribed hour, Monsant entered the lounge and gave a brief parade-rest pause. “Ensign Kavox, reporting as ordered,” he stated, before relaxing his stance. “I’m pretty excited to see what’s out there, sir.”

-Ens. Kavox Monsant, Sci.

Xeal smiled slightly. “Relax Ensign this is an informal meeting.” Xeal waved towards the food and drinks. “Please have something to eat and drink, it’s for the whole team. And not to worry we can count this as your formal check in.”

“Aye sir. Thank you,” Monsant answered, relaxing his posture.

Faye wasn’t entirely sure if she should be in this meeting, but given how much time she’d spend with her fellow scientists it seemed like the prudent thing to do. With her teal hair pulled back off her face in a tidy french braid, Calloway stepped into the lounge eyeing her surroundings critically and picking off the current occupants with her adept memory. “This isn’t going to be one of those secret parties scientists are definitely not known for, is it?” she asked the CSO with a casual smirk, seeming somewhat at ease

Her eyes travelled to the ensign and gave him a nod. He’s one I definitely need to talk to later.

“It currently is not one of those secret party’s but Things sure can get a little wild when they want to be at events.” Xeal took a bite of a little sandwich to grabbed from the buffett.

Looking at both Calloway and Ensign Monsant. “So tell me what do you think of this ship so far?” Taking the last bite of the small sandwich and washing it down with some cool Andorian cider. “Is there any projects in particular you would like to experiment with?”

LT - Xeal Loss - CSO

Monsant nibbled on his own sandwich, and had opted for some iced tea to go with it. “I haven’t had a chance to see very much of it, honestly, but I did have a lot of time to read the specs on the ride out. I was planning on taking a look up on the labs on Decks 5 and 8, since exobiology and astrophysics were my two main fields at the academy, but I don’t have any specific project mapped out currently, to be honest.”

-Ens Kavox Monsant

“No matter, I’m sure we will figure something out for you. If you have an idea that you wish to try out please don’t hesitate to come to me. It is my policy to let sciences run how every they wish as long as it don’t endanger the ship and crew.” Taking another sip of his Andorian cider, Xeal continued. “I majored in Advanced Theoretical Physics, and Astrophysics. And have Doctorits in both. But please, don’t call me doctor I much prefer the informal.”

“Of course, Sir. Honestly, my mom pretty strongly pressed for me to go for my doctorate too, but, well, I couldn’t resist the lure of getting out into space first.” Monsant grinned a little. “Besides, if I’m inspired to find a good enough research project here, I can always apply for it from out here.”

“Parents can be like that, especially mothers. If I didn’t get my doctorate both of my parents wold have killed me. So I got it, now oh so many years ago it feels.:

-Kavox Monsant

Xeal turned to Calloway “And your self Faye, remind me what your specialty is?”

LT - Xeal Loos - CSO

Calloway grinned. “None. Too many things to really call them specialties, but I’m here to work mostly on sensitive data protection and transmission. My first project is a basic audit of the systems and current protocols on place.” Whether Monsant would pick up on the terminology or not she didn’t know, but it wouldn’t take long for the crew to figure out that she was going to be their resident hacker.

~Faye Calloway, Data Specialist

“As long as you stay away from my personal files and don’t crupt any of my others you and I will get along just fine Calloway.”

LT - Xeal Loos - CSO

OOC: I was hoping that Amanda Mercer wold be joining us, but I don’t think she has ever posted. Oh well. Next post we will be moving things into the hollodeck for some fun. :D

Ducky

Peyton had been in the main science lab and needed to finish cleaning up her station before heading to the lounge. She had her ever present piece of string in her hand and as she walked into the lounge, she paused to take in who all was present. She had only seen the new chief in passing and as was her custom, she tended to avoid groups of people. Taking an inward deep breath, she moved over to the rest of the science department and with a simple nod sat down to see what was going on.
