Monsant nibbled on his own sandwich, and had opted for some iced tea to go with it. “I haven’t had a chance to see very much of it, honestly, but I did have a lot of time to read the specs on the ride out. I was planning on taking a look up on the labs on Decks 5 and 8, since exobiology and astrophysics were my two main fields at the academy, but I don’t have any specific project mapped out currently, to be honest.”

-Ens Kavox Monsant

“No matter, I’m sure we will figure something out for you. If you have an idea that you wish to try out please don’t hesitate to come to me. It is my policy to let sciences run how every they wish as long as it don’t endanger the ship and crew.” Taking another sip of his Andorian cider, Xeal continued. “I majored in Advanced Theoretical Physics, and Astrophysics. And have Doctorits in both. But please, don’t call me doctor I much prefer the informal.”

“Of course, Sir. Honestly, my mom pretty strongly pressed for me to go for my doctorate too, but, well, I couldn’t resist the lure of getting out into space first.” Monsant grinned a little. “Besides, if I’m inspired to find a good enough research project here, I can always apply for it from out here.”

“Parents can be like that, especially mothers. If I didn’t get my doctorate both of my parents wold have killed me. So I got it, now oh so many years ago it feels.:

-Kavox Monsant

Xeal turned to Calloway “And your self Faye, remind me what your specialty is?”

LT - Xeal Loos - CSO

Calloway grinned. “None. Too many things to really call them specialties, but I’m here to work mostly on sensitive data protection and transmission. My first project is a basic audit of the systems and current protocols on place.” Whether Monsant would pick up on the terminology or not she didn’t know, but it wouldn’t take long for the crew to figure out that she was going to be their resident hacker.

“As long as you stay away from my personal files and don’t crupt any of my others you and I will get along just fine Calloway.”

LT - Xeal Loos - CSO

“I’ll do my best,” Faye said sincerely, which she was. It was one of those things where she probably won’t have to worry anyone about exactly that, but who knew what circumstances might come up. She pondered this as she grabbed some sort of savoury pastry thing and a couple carrot sticks. She realized her entire job here would be complicated, but at least she had known that before she got here.

OOC: I was hoping that Amanda Mercer wold be joining us, but I don’t think she has ever posted. Oh well. Next post we will be moving things into the hollodeck for some fun. :D

Peyton had been in the main science lab and needed to finish cleaning up her station before heading to the lounge. She had her ever present piece of string in her hand and as she walked into the lounge, she paused to take in who all was present. She had only seen the new chief in passing and as was her custom, she tended to avoid groups of people. Taking an inward deep breath, she moved over to the rest of the science department and with a simple nod sat down to see what was going on.

Grant (Sci)

Seeing that Grant has finally made it to the meeting Xeal excused himself from the other two and made his way towards him. “You must be Lt.jg Peyton Grant. I’m the new CSO Pleasure to meet you.” Xeal also noted that Grant looked to be a little uncomfortable as so many scientists do.

“Please, help your self to some food and drink.”

“So, what sort of project were you working on that made you late to our meeting?”

LT - Xeal Loss - CSO

Peyton glanced at the food “In a moment.” She said “I am working on a way to increase our ability to regenerate dilithium so that we will slow down the depletion of resources in fueling a ship.” She said standing up “Amongst other things.” Peyton said “I am also working on enhancing our growing capacity for food so that we can use less replicator supplies.”

Alison quietly entered the lounge knowing she was beyond late. Audrey had still been in a fowl mood when Alison had dropped her off in the labs, and getting her settled had been a chore.

She looked around the room hoping to find a quiet place to settle quickly. Even after changing her uniform you couldn’t tell it. Her left sleeve was practically none existent, and the front had what looked to be teeth marks in it.

She let out of soft sigh as she made her way over to where the others had gathered hoping to not be noticed.

Calloway watched the two other women enter and checked her mental list of crew, but unless she made eye contact with them, wasn’t going go out of her way at this moment to engage them. It was a group meeting and they were all going to find our more about how they’d be working together. Or in her case, mostly on her own, but sometimes with others. It was going to vary.

~Faye Calloway, Data Scientist

Peyton saw the others arrive and she turned back to the CSO “It looks like the rest of the team has arrived.” She said trying to divert the attention from herself.
