“You were attacked by a plant?? That’s… that’s fascinating! I’ll have to see this.... uh… later, perhaps.” Monsant’s enthusiasm waned as he remembered he was at a meeting, technically.

-Ens Kavox Monsant, Sci

“Interesting, and you said that this plant of yours was just a seedling yesterday? I have never heard of any plant life growing so quickly from seed. I have seen and heard of plants growing a foot or two in height once they have sprouted. Such as earths bamboo tree.”

LT - Xeal Loss - CSO

Calloway watched the two other women enter and checked her mental list of crew, but unless she made eye contact with them, wasn’t going go out of her way at this moment to engage them. It was a group meeting and they were all going to find our more about how they’d be working together. Or in her case, mostly on her own, but sometimes with others. It was going to vary.

OOC: Okay now that we have everyone here lets take it to the next level. What would you all like to do in the Holodeck?

1) Our own mini sim
2) Go wild and have a party
3) Have fun and play a little game of laser tag

Robert “Ducky” Thompson

OOC :

Since my aim is horrible I saw either 1 or 2

Amanda

I’m good for any of them.

BJ

OOC: I’m good with any of them, though Faye hates parties and she does have great aim and will take you all down. ;) Haha! ~Linds

OOC: We’ll see! :D -Mike I’d say 1 or 3 myself.

OOC: Okay boys and girls looks like mini sim won out. Give me a couple days to sort out a mini sim plot and then I will change the name of our thread here.

This is going to be exciting.

Robert “Ducky” Thompson

Xeal stood on his chair and got everyone’s attention. “I wold like to thank you all for coming out to our meeting here. But I believe it is now time for a change in venue. If everyone could follow me to holodeck 2 for some some fun. I have created a holodeck program just for our little group.”

Oh goodie, Faye though, fighting an eye roll. She had a feeling that being subjected to team building so early in her time here would either go great or terrible. She wasn’t one of those people who did moderation very well.

Xeal got off the chair and beckoned everyone to follow him. He then turned to Kane, “Ensign your with me.”

As they all reached the turbolift it was plain to see that not everyone was going to fit into the lift. Xeal along with Kane entered the turbolift. “We will see the rest of you in the holodeck.” The doors closed and the lift began to humm speeding it’s way to where the holodecks are located.

“So Ensign Kane, Please tell me more about this plant of yours, it’s very intriguing.”

LT - Xeal Loss - CSO

OOC: Let the fun begin. Amanda and I (AKA Ensign Kane) have something fun planned for all of us science officers.

Robert “Ducky” Thompson

Monsant turned to the others, a bit disappointed; he had wanted to pester the botanist with queries about her fascinating plant. The disappointment faded quickly, however, as he turned to the rest of the scientists present. “So… anyone have any guesses what we’ll be doing in there?” he asked, as they waited for the second lift to arrive.

-Ens Kavox Monsant

Faye ran a hand over her teal-coloured hair. “Well, somehow I think we’re not going to be playing Capture-the-Flag,” she said dryly.

Monsant looked vaguely disappointed, but only for a moment. “Ah! There’s our ride,” he said, facial expression brightening once again, as the turbolift doors opened for the rest of the science team.

-Ens Kavox Monsant

When Xeal and Kane arrived at the turbolift he spoke to the computer. =/\= Computer start program Xeal 31-Alpha.=/\= The computer blurped and beeped. =/\= Program ready.=/\= The holodeck doors hissed open and Xeal walked in.

The atmosphere was a little foggy, humid, and the holodeck looked like a rain forest.

Xeal then turned to Kane. “Is this about the environment that your plant is supposed to come from?”

LT - Xeal Loss - CSO

Calloway simply waited for whatever would befall her and the rest of the team and had to remind herself of her purpose here. This was a good learning experience after all and no detail was too small to be important.

~Faye Calloway, Data Scientist

Spartacus did enjoy being in the dirt. Of course, he enjoyed it more with a trowel and finding out what the inhabitants were like.

Neidell Sci

As the group began to walk through the thick brush of an alien planets, tropical rain forest, they came into a clearing with a single plant in the center. The plant was about 3.5 feet tall and appeared to be shaking and making sneezing type sounds.

Xeal had never seen such a thing before. He certainly didn’t program this plant into the holodeck program. “Everyone take your tricorders out.”

Lt - Xeal Loss - CSO

Even as Monsant was flipping his tricorder open, he was considering how futile the instruction was. On a holodeck, anything other than the items you brought with you would simply be holomatter, and an analysis of that would be more useful from an engineering perspective than a scientific one, generally. That’s why the data crossing his screen caught his attention; his mouth sputtered for just a moment, and then he said “Well, that’s funny…”

-Kavox Monsant

The data showing on the tricorders was intresting, even though this was a holodeck simulation the tricorders read that this strange plant was indeed alive and with them.

Ducky

“What’s so funny Kavox?” asked Xeal

Lt - Xeal Loss - CSO

There was something amusing about the idea of multiple scientists pointing their tricorders at something and expecting someone to get a different result. She hadn’t exactly come to the meeting with a tricorder and hadn’t bothered to grab one once inside. Instead, Faye was going to take in information the old-fashioned way: with her senses. While they focused on the plant itself, Faye was checking out the jungle surroundings and the topography of the clearing. Was there an obvious water source besides rain? Where there signs of animals that might cohabit with the plant, symbiotically or as predators towards each other. What geographical markers might be important to their setting? She wasn’t just looking for data on the plant, she was looking for the context for its existence.

~Faye Calloway, Data Specialist

The typography was that the land was dished slightly and the plant was in the centre. Besieds that there was a further steeper imbankment full of the natural forest to the east. The open field could not have been more then fifty feet across in ether direction.

“Well, sir, I should just be reading holomatter, there shouldn’t be anything real in here except us. Certainly nothing alive!” He snapped his tricorder closed. “So… either someone transported or… excuse me. Either someone used the transporters, or they physically moved, this plant into here. There must be a seam in the ground where the real dirt meets the holomatter dirt…” Monsant hunched forward a bit, trying to spot the difference between photons and soil with his eyes.

-Kavox Monsant

Monsant would not find the seam.

(Ducky)

Xeal pondered this briefly. “That may be, but I have never seen any creature such as this. Have you?” Xeal was cautious but took another couple steps closer. “What do you think it is doing? It almost appears as though it is sneezing?

Lt - Xeal Loss - CSO

“And you probably won’t see another” Alison said as she stepped closer to the flower. She ran her hand down the stem, and as she did Audrey made a wheezing sound and pushed into her hand. Kane arched an eyebrow “that’s new”

She took a step back and took a quick scan to compare to the one she took in the shuttle right after she had sprouted. “Everyone I would like you to meet Audrey. She is a Dionaea Muscipula hybrid. I took the Magaap Haam (dream flower) of Andoria and cross bred it with the with a very rare flytrap I found while on Zotera Prime.”
