“Greetings Lieutenant.” Ardashir stood as he offered his hand. “I have been going over profile, quite impressive. From the Atlantis I see? How is Captain Kelly? I remember working with her a few years back, she was always… interesting. Hadn’t heard much from her since then till I looked over your transfer sheet. Wasn’t even aware they let her have a ship.
Faye shook his hand with well worn hands that had seen a lot of work. “Well, I don’t know Captain Kelly like you probably might. I only met Captain Shultz once and it wasn’t my proudest moment. But hey, it brought me here, so it was good in the end. She seemed to be doing well enough though.”
Moving from his seat Jack made his way to his replicator looking over at Faye, “Would you care for anything?” he asked.

“A glass of water would be good right about now.” Her meds could give her a dry mouth so she was almost always sipping on something. She sat in one of the chairs, relaxing a bit into the seat.

Jack came back, mint tea and water in tow as he handed hers and came back around to his desk to sit down as he motioned for her to do the same. “So, what can you tell me of your mission Lieutenant?” he asked her, wondering what all might have not been in the docket.

“Besides my life-long goal to find intelligent people to talk with that don’t drive me crazy?” she said dryly. “More or less what it looks like. I’ll be mostly camped out in one of the labs on deck Thirteen where i’ll build, rebuild and test encryption and decryption protocols. Given our location in the Delta Quadrant, Starfleet Command is keen on following the Manhattan’s progress as we do what we do. I’ll be responsible for not only the security of our computer cores and library but making sure all the info we transmit back to Starfleet via the relay system gets there intact. I’ll be experimenting with some compression methods as well, but whether we deviate from the standard or not will depend entirely on how my experiments go.”

“What kind of compression methods?” Jack said, he was smart, he knew if he asked all the details he was most curious about first she may clam up but if he started light he could get the details he wanted in time.
