Faye accepted the cable and set it on top of the other one she just finished with without commenting on his rather funny innuendo. “Sure. I actually don’t want it all put away, since I’m going to just be doing more of this tomorrow, but let’s contain things so that I can pull everything off to the sides and nothing poses a tripping hazard.”

She went about putting tools away in her case and grabbing any little bits and pieces that needed safe storing. At least with her back to him she could take steading breaths. What are you doing Calloway? she chided herself. Regardless of what she might want and whatever old fears she might be overcoming at the moment, there were other considerations she didn’t have the luxury of ignoring. But at the same time she had fought long and hard in her life to carve out something of a tolerable existence and at the moment she didn’t think it was a punishable offence to take a bit of joy or even pleasure in the decent and kind company of another person. At least that was what she was going to have to tell herself constantly so that she didn’t screw up everything that was actually important at the moment. Play the long game and just relax.

Hammor slid a few of the coils against the wall and walked up to one of the large crates still sitting in the middle of the room. The security lock and high-quality of the container itself screamed ‘Don’t Touch’ to anyone who dealt with cargo routinely like he did. Instead of just moving it, he looked over at Calloway and said “Want me to put this against the wall? Promise not to pry, just looking to get it out of your way.” He was curious about the container, but his curiosity about his new acquaintance was stronger. He didn’t know much, but he did know that he didn’t want to make her think he was spying on her. Something inside told him that if she ever felt like he was, he would not be speaking to her again on friendly terms… if he spoke to her at all.

“Uh sure, yeah, that’ll be fine, ” Faye said with a nod as she tucked the case of tools on the side worktop. There wasn’t anything on the exterior of the crate that would give any clues anyway, so she wasn’t particularly concerned, and she had already been pretty clear wth everyone where it had come up that the classified portions or her work were going to stay that way. At least for the time being until she was told otherwise.

Hammor nodded and grasped the crate, one hand on each side, and lifted it off the ground. It was heavy, but not overly so for the big green Orion. Setting down against the wall, he turned and looked at Faye. “Anything else?” he asked.

Faye shook her head. “No, that should be good. Thanks.”

Moving one last item out of the way, Calloway surveyed the room and nodded to herself. “Okay, I’m done. Where do you want to start the tour? I’ve already done engineering, and we already were in the lounge. Surprise me,” she said with a slight smirk.

“Well, let’s hit Science, Medical, and the Computer Core. Those are the critical areas that your shenanigans need to be careful with. After that, a swing through the Ops Center and then we can get some dinner.” and he looked at her flatly but with a twinkle in his eye. “One would think that I would be full after eating the Quartermaster alive, but no. Turns out after you scare the crap out of him, all that was left was a PaDD and pair of overalls.”

“We can skip medical, as I was already there for my physical. Seen one med bay, you’ve seen them all,” Faye said, not exactly with tension, but clearly there was no joke to be made about that one on her end.

Looking around, Faye stalled a moment while she took a deep breath and then moved for the door. “Well then, let’s get this tour underway. I could do with something to eat already. Lunch seems like ages ago,” she commented idly. It was strange to think that she was actually going to share more than one meal with the same person in the same day. Had she ever done that? Well, Nevol didn’t count. Or did he? Being a backstabbing manipulator makes him not count, she decided.

Hammor nodded and said “No problem. Let’s get this show on the road.” and he walked to the door and allowed Faye to leave before exiting directly behind her.

He led them down to the Science Section and into the front of the labs. Halting them there, he said “I don’t mess around in here. I know they have some things going on that far above my bald head, so I just make sure that they have consistent power and fulfill material requests as quick as I can. I haven’t even dealt with the staff much. But if your work is anything like I think it is, you will probably be spending some time here. I’d recommend at least saying hi before you start hijacking their computational relays.” he said with a grin and a soft chuckle.
