Her grey-green eyes considered him carefully, even perhaps for a moment longer than might be socially expected. “Mess hall,” Faye said with a slight nod, as if deciding it as she spoke. Moving out of his operational room, Faye moved casually down the corridor. She suddenly stopped, frowning slightly as she closed her eyes. “Hold on a second,” she said softly.

Then just like that, Faye’s expression returned to one more neutral. “Alright, good to go.”

Hammor followed her out and made sure the door was locked. When Faye paused, he looked at her with a slightly perplexed look and said “You okay? Forget something? I mean, we can go back… or call it a night if you don’t feel up to dinner. Although the Rigelian stew is amazing. Just sayin’.”

Calloway shook her head. “No, I’m fine. I love a good stew too, so lead on Chief, and show me the marvels of our mess hall.” If there was anything Faye excelled at, it was feigning being ‘fine’ when she wasn’t. The actual fact was that she was okay, but in that moment had to force her brain to cooperate. though she had a fairly good hold over the side-effects her time with the Tal Shiar had left, even after awhile later they still crept in. Her mind had been too idle and it seemed like it wanted to begin processing time just then. Unbidden. Well, not today and not without her say so! She had worked hard to curb that whole reaction and she really didn’t care of Hammor thought she was odd, she thought she had managed it quite well.

Hammor simply nodded once and said “Stew it is. Follow me.” and he dropped the line of inquiry. They made their way to the turbolift and Hammor said “Deck three.” and the lift moved them through the ship. The doors opened and Hammor walked out and past Sickbay. Coming to a door with a small plaque next to it reading “Officer’s Mess”, he walked through the doors.

Faye was glad for the quiet and that he could appreciate some silence as well. It made things less awkward since she very quickly reached points where her small talk skills ran dry.

A single large table sat against one wall on which sat several covered dishes. A scattering of smaller tables filled the room. A door next to the table opened and a Bajoran man came out. “Ah, Lieutenant. Good to see you.” and he looked at Faye. “A new arrival?” and he extended his hand.

Faye shook his hand politely and gazed intently as if trying to place him.

Hammor grinned slightly and said “Indeed. Lieutenant Faye Calloway, may I introduce Mr. Harv; Chef-In-Charge of the Officer’s Mess. Chef, do you have any stew ready?” Mr. Harv smiled broadly and said “Of course. Have a seat and I will bring it. And bread. Have some just coming out.”

“Sounds good, Chef,” Faye said moving over to a far table where she had a good view of the entire mess hall. “How’s his cooking?” she asked quietly, with curiosity.

Hammor shook his head a made face that spoke volumes. “Amazing. I can’t remember having better. He used to be Head Chef at on of the resorts on Rigel. Got in a bind with someone, and now he’s here. Don’t know the particulars, but i do know he keeps a low-profile. He said he only likes me ‘cause I’m Orion, and he may need a big muscular guy sometime.” and he laughed.
