“I’ve been given some new hardware that is hypothetically supposed to help transmit complex data in a lossless format. I can’t go into to many details, because it’s classified, but I can tell you that because we have Horizon station on this side to act as a more solid relay to the other side of the wormhole, we are hopeful that we can have more frequent communication than say Voyager had when they were in the Delta Quadrant. We’re looking to use lesser known and used subspace bands for transmission. At last that’s the hypothesis. It could all blow up in my face, quite literally, but hey, what’s life without a little adventure, right?” Faye said lightly as if none of this was a big deal. Which is shouldn’t be, because she had her orders and they basically had no say in it. Mostly. She knew it would be complicated, but Calloway was hoping he wouldn’t make too big a deal out of this.

Jack shook his head for a moment, “Don’t… don’t blow up the ship.” Jack said with an almost deadpan look as he spoke. He knew she wouldn’t, but he couldn’t help but think he needed to clarify he did like the ship intact. “I just got her washed and waxed, fire damage is a bitch to get out of bulk heads and I can keep explaining lose officers.” he said with a small wink at Faye.

“Well I didn’t say I was going to blow up the ship. Just the potentially for for a new hairstyle,” she deadpanned before leaning forward. “Besides, I am a practical sort of being- I dislike wasting resources, people included. It would be a shame to lose me, and so soon!” Faye wasn’t always sure how to take humour for people, though it often depended on how it was delivered. She herself leaned toward sarcasm as a comfortable means of communication, and that didn’t always go so well.

Jack raised his eyebrow and nodded. “Well we can always find an easier ways to get you a stylist Miss Calloway.” he said as he still didn’t show much, but was clear he wasn’t perturbed by her statement. “I am here to help, and get you the needed resources. I don’t mind giving you some carte blanche but I will want to have some details that you can. I know you can’t share all but I would like to read up on all you are doing.

Creed, XO

Faye held her hands up defensively, though her expression was unconcerned. “I promise to tel everyone what they need to know when they need to know it. After all, I might be working mostly independently, but I’m certainly not working alone and in a vacuum.”

She eyed Creed. “What can you tell me about the Manhattan, Commander?”

~Faye Calloway, Data Scientist

“She is a tight little ship to be honest, wasn’t like my last XO spot, but she has her own sense of spunk I feel. Large enough to get the needs done but small enough to not feel over burdened or like you can get lost in. I have found her to be quite versatile.”

Creed, XO

Faye herself probably would have responded similarly herself, but she found it interesting that he talked about the ship itself and not the crew. Her question was open to interpretation of course, but perhaps it said something about his leadership style? She simply tucked that tidbit away for later reflection. “Well, I look forward to getting stuck in. So unless you have any further questions for me, I should probably go settle in and have all these meetings I’m needing to have.”

~Faye Calloway, Data Scientist

“By all means, if you need me you know where to find me. I look forward to hearing from you Miss Calloway.” Jack said with a nod as he stood up walking her to the door. “Also if you want, I would love to have you by for dinner. Celina Rodriguez, the CoS is my fiance’ and we don’t entertain often. If you would like we can have dinner and get to know each other more if you feel up to it.” he offered, he was curious to learn more and he didn’t know what he quite felt about her having the powers she was getting set up as on the ship.
