Making a brief tour of the ship before they got underway, Cochrane made his way to the labs and walked through the doors. Stepping to the side, he looked around at the Science team working on various projects. After a few moments, he cleared his throat loudly and said “Attention, everyone. Sorry for the interruption. I am Captain Alexander Cochrane, your new Commanding Officer. Captain Ibn Barazan has been reassigned, as has Lieutenant Loss. With that, I need to know who is the most senior Science team member currently? And don’t worry, I’m not handing the department to anyone based solely on how long they have been here.” and he smiled. “I just need a point of contact for the Department until a new Chief Science Officer is made available. I know this is a bit much to hit you all with at once. I do apologize. But I wanted to deliver the news myself and address any concerns any of you may have.” and he looked around to see who stepped forward or had questions.

Alison stepped forward. She may not have been the most senior officer, but she had been working closely with xeal over the last few months, and figured if he had any questions she could r “Ensign Alison Kane” she said extending her hand to the new Captian. Snickering from behind her caused her to turn “Keep it up and ill drop her force field, and let you deal with her.”

Cochrane took her hand and said “Ensign.” right before the snickering began.

The snickering ended as quickly as it began, and Alison turned to the Captain once again. “Sorry about that sir. It’s been happening a lot lately. Ever since Audrey finally stopped growing.” She paused after she realized he didnt have a clue what she was talking about. “Follow me sir and ill introduce you to Audrey” she said as she she led him toward where Audrey was kept.

Ensign Kane, sci

Spartacus said and did nothing. He was the dirt digger. He didn’t want to go into command at any level.

“Lead on, then.” he said and followed the young scientist towards the afore-mentioned ‘Audrey’.

Monsant glanced up from his terminal to notice the Captain. Breaking his (admittedly minor) vow to keep a respectful distance from Audrey, he walked over. “Ah… sir, a pleasure to meet you, Captain. I believe Lieutenant Grant is the ranking science officer,” he said, a bit of hesitation in his voice about that pronouncement. It’s not that he had anything against the other officer, but he had a little trouble imagining her as the team leader, given her aversion to the spotlight that command would inevitably entail. He tugged a little at his ear briefly. “Lieutenant Calloway has worked with us a bit as well, but I don’t think she’s actually in our orbit.” He spared a glance towards Ensign Neidell, pretty sure he was the seniormost Ensign at this point.

Peyton looked up from her station “Yes.” She said and saw the commanding officer she stood up and walked over her hand fishing around in the pocket of her uniform for the piece of yarn she kept there. Finding it, she began twirling it around in her fingers “I’m Lt. Grant, how can I help?” She asked without making eye contact with anyone.

Grant (Sci)

Cochrane stopped in his progress with Ens. Kane. “One moment, Ensign. I am quite interested in this Audrey, but I must speak with the ranking officer.” and extended a hand to Lt. Grant. “A pleasure, Lieutenant. Captain Alexander Cochrane. I’m the new Commanding Officer. If you have a moment, could we speak privately please?” he asked and indicated the now-vacant CSO office.

Peyton nodded and gestured to the CSO’s office “How can I be of assistance?” Peyton asked the yarn twirling in her fingers and she looked past the Captain, only making occasional eye contact but only very briefly.

Grant (sci)

Cochrane got straight to the point. “With the change in Command Staff and a new CSO coming on board I wanted you, as the senior member of the team, to know that if there are any issues you believe that need to be addressed, please let me know. I want the transition to be made as smoothly as possible, and I owuld appreciate your assistance in that. Would you be willing to help?”
