Hey everyone

As we get ready to embark on a new journey together and we have some new faces (including mine!) on board, I wanted to take a minute and make sure that we all start off with everyone on the same page. I have some basic criteria that I expect everyone, myself included, to adhere to while they are part of the Manhattan family. These are simple, basic guidelines so that we all know what to expect from each other.

  1. Posting limits are 7 days for JOs, 5 days for DH’s, 3 days for Command. This is the minimum we need, but as we get faster than average at times, I would recommend that you try to post at least twice a week in order to keep up with everything that is happening.

  2. I want people to read as much of the posts on the ship as possible. We can move fast at times, and I hope that we never have to wait on any one person for the sim to progress and move forward. Reading all main sim threads is mandatory!

  3. Please keep AWOL’s to the absolute minimum. If you need a LOA, please tell me or the XO and make sure to note it on your account. An OOC post on the ship is also fine. Just make sure you are communicating if you get held up from posting. Look. I know real life sometimes can get in the way, and I will do my best to be understanding of that. But repeated AWOL’s can hinder the smooth operation of the ship. I just don’t want to have to spend inordinate amounts of time trying to chase people down. So if AWOL’s become a pattern for you, you run the risk of be taken off the roster.

  4. We will send out AWOL notices when you go AWOL, or a little bit after (approximately 10 days for JO, 8 for DH, and 5 for Command), and my policy is pretty simple here. If I or the XO send you a notice and you don’t respond in 2 or 3 days, we will send another. If we don’t hear back in another 2 or 3 days, I have the option to remove you from the roster without further warning. That doesn’t mean you will be automatically taken off. But at that point the XO and myself have to look at what is best for the ship and the crew. A couple of weeks on our ship can be a long time to wait for someone who isn’t coming back. Again, just communicate with us so we know what is going on if you need to be gone for a bit.

  5. Personal Conflicts… this is a big one. I know we won’t all get along all the time. It happens. But please keep any personal conflicts off the boards. That is not the forum to hash things out. If there is a problem, you can always contact me or the XO via email or on Discord.

If this all sounds reasonable to you, please reply here so we have it for the record. Thank you all for being here and being a part of this amazing ship!

Glad to have you aboard!

James

Aye Aye Captain.
On a personal note. I am still rather struggling with Jeremy’s death. I’m not curled up in a ball weeping my eyes out or anything like that, I am just … numb and empty. There’s nothing anyone can really do about it, I just need to work through it all. I will get through it … I just need to do it at my time. Nudge me as necessary to post within limits … I am wanting to make sure that this sim gets posted appropriately and with fun for all of you.
