Riali had never minded the idea of physicals, she merely didn’t appreciate all of the questions doctors generally had for her condition, even though the information was displayed semi-prominently in her file, if someone took the time to look for it. Although, being the opportunist she was, she always figured the next doctor would be more inclined to read her file, before questioning over a topic she had answered hundreds of times before. Okay.. that was exaggerating it. But it sure felt that way!

Nearing the Sickbay, she quickly ran over the previous two weeks, to see if there was anything she knew she would have to tell the doctor or nurse. Figuring she was clear, she shrugged her shoulders, rounding the corner and straight into to main Sickbay. Glancing about, the smell of sterilizing chemicals washing over her. It was one of the few things she absolutely despised about any science: the smell. It was never a nice scent. Then again, not all sciences were botany and even botany had a tendency to produce some wretched smells from time to time.

Quietly, she glanced around for any sign of an unbusied doctor, hardly wishing to disturb anyone who was far more in need of assistance than a new officer looking to be poked and prodded for the hell of it.. and for regulation, but that was besides the point.

Jasmine noticed a woman entering sick bay and walked towards them. She knew that the ship was taking on a chief science officer and according to the pips on the woman who had just entered sickbay she was probably it. It was also protocol that within 24 hours any new crew had to be checked in to science psyche, and their department head once transferring. “Lt. Deandres,” Jasmine said extending her hand. “I’m Lt. Jasmine Wynters. I hope your journey here was uneventful and I assume you are here for your physical?”

“Hello Doctor,” Riali greeted the woman, taking her hand into a firm shake. “Uneventful? I wouldn’t quite put it in such an light, but thank you.” She smiled, allowing her hand to retreat back to her side. “Insightful,” She razzed, harmlessly. “Yes. If you have a moment, I just need to get that physical done.” Deandres glanced over the young doctor for a few moments, but did not say anything more. All of her thoughts were painted in her gentle smile.

“I have as many minutes as you need. Come with me,” Jasmine waved for her to follow as the CMO led the CSO to the back of the room. Finding a bed in the back of the room she activated a privacy curtain to separate her and the CSO from the patient in the next bed. Jasmine brought up the tricorder before she was interrupted.

“Jasmine! Jasmine,” a voice yelled. “You said you were gonna be here ten minutes ago and that was an hour ago,” as a head poked itself through the shimmery privacy curtain giving the head a floating Halloween effect.

“Crewman Paulson,” Jasmine put her hands on her hips. “I swear to God if you don’t go lay down and sleep off that bender I am going to turn you in to the Chief. Now lay down,” she belted out a motherly grumble and pushed the face back through the curtain with her palm. Sticking her head into the curtain from her side, the CSO would now see a decapitated form of the CMO as she continued what anyone would remember as a motherly rant in an annoyed tone as they threatened to tell the father something if the kid did not listen. “You have another eight to ten hours here and I swear one more peep out of you and I am calling Lt. Wynter and you can explain to him why you never spend an afternoon on the beach with Jim, Jose, and Jack.”

Pulling her head back through the curtain she smoothed down her hair and looked at the CSO. “So where were we,” she acted as if nothing was wrong and began to scan the officer in from of her. “Anything interesting to report,” she asked.

Just then, the CMO’s comm beeped and a voice came through. The voice was strong and carried an air of confidence in it, and it spoke in the same accent as the Chief Medical Officer. While strong it was however not loud, it was quiet spoken but direct.

=/\= Lieutenant Wynter, this is the Chief Engineer =/\= The voice said, and it seemed to be very calm and relaxed.

“One second,” Jasmine held up a finger to the CSO. Today was not going smoothly. =/\=Yes, Lt. Wynter=/\=

=/\= Lieutenant Wynter, I seem to have misplaced one of my Ensigns, an NE Paulson. He was due to start his shift an hour ago, but never showed up. We did manage to find his comm-badge, it seemed to be lost in the arboretum. Have you, by any chance my dear, found my missing Ensign? If so I should like him returned to me, when we exchanged vows Jasmine you weren’t supposed to get everything of mine, you know that right? =/\= The last part of the message was delivered in a very matter of fact tone, it still held obvious affection for the CMO, but a familiar kind of resignation that sounded like this wasn’t the first time the two of them had held a discussion like this.

Lt Cmdr Wynter, CE

“Nooo,” she drew out the word. “No he is not in visual range at this moment. Maybe you should low jack him,” she suggested. “I mean you are the engineering chief. Don’t you have stuff like that you can do,” she asked innocently. =./\= Max I have to go. If a lost ensign shows up I’ll be sure to send him your way. Wynter out=/\= she commed and turned back to the CSO. “Okay where we’re we?”
