Faye blinked at him. “Well then, I’m sure you can understand that when you’re working on new data protection measures, that there will be at least some disruption to some computer processes and communications. I’ve made the captain and other department heads directly affected aware of my work and they will be notified before I start anything that will impact the ship. All I wanted to do here was to let you know that I am reworking some processing pathways and that that my work without context might look… unusual. I want you to feel free to ask me about it but I also am obligated to inform you that some parts of it will be classified and not up for discussion.”

“Certainly,” Logan nodded. “There are plenty of redundant systems that should prevent any radical computer disruptions. But I’ll know who to contact if it happens.”

“I appreciate your cooperation,” Calloway said simply. “Speaking of, what’s the ship and crew like, from your perspective?” If she had to go through all these various song and dances, she might as well attempt to learn something useful.

“They’re fairly well balanced,” Logan replied. “They do seem to have their own daily routines. It’s still a fairly new ship.”

CoS

“And our mission?” Faye leaned forward slightly. “I mean, the Delta Quadrant is full of opportunities, but it also holds a lot of risks. Some of which I will be looking after, but you’ll have your work cut out for you, I’m sure.”

“I’ve been briefed on the Delta Quadrant,” Logan agreed. “Yes, it’s a fairly dangerous area of space. But isn’t that to be expected? I mean, just take a look at the many cultures that are out here. Not to mention the presence of the Borg. But we’ve made some friends here, too.”

CoS

“True,” Faye said. “But like I said, some of those are your concerns, and some of them I will be handling so the Manhattan is as secure and protected as she can be as we venture into the unknown.” In reality it was all her concern, but at the moment it was immaterial.

“I don’t really have anything else to go over, so unless you have more questions about my work, I should probably get back to my work,” Calloway said.
