Snipping for Sanity

As Cockrane, Station XO QT Pie and the Manhattan’s XO left the room for Fat Sam’s (and their arrival will be posted into that thread) a mist began to form in the room, right next to the Station Commander. He looked at it in confusion and stepped back away from it even as it consolidated itself into a three headed feline with pink fur. The creature looked around and purred and approached the Station Commander who seemed rather terrified and keen to flee.

“WAIT Sir,” Nalonx said, a touch of wonder in his voice, “stand still. All of you, stand still. It’ll smell you, touch you, stare at you, lick you and but show no fear, don’t move. It wants to know who we are, but movement, fear causes it to strike.”

“What,” Celina said standing up almost shocked at the site. She couldn’t quite understand what was happening. She let her eyes dart to the engineering chief hoping he had some words of wisdom.

“I have no idea” Max said to the CTO. “Until we know more, better do as he says, all of you” he said, not moving but loud enough for people to hear. He realized that Jasmine had left with the tricorder in her bag, it would have been handy to get scans of the creature but at the same time, glad for some reason that Jasmine had left the room.

“Ok Nalonx,” the Station Commander said, forcing himself to stand still. Sure enough the creature smelled him with the nose on its middle head, and flicked out its tongue from its right head to taste him while staring at him with the eyes from its left head.

“Station Commander, humanoid, ready for collection.” the creature said, more a hiss than a purr as was the case with Caits.

“Whoa whoa whoa,” Celina froze watching the scene unfold around her. “Great just great,” she said through gritted teeth to Darach only moving her lips and not her jaw or teeth. “Why is it the second the XO and CO leave the room my happy arse gets stuck in the hot seat. There are three…three people above me and as usual none of them are around when any work needs to tbe done.” Slowly her hand moved up to her comm badge.

“Did I just turn invisible?” Max said, “Good, in that case that thing won’t be able to find me.”

=/\=Jack....you need to get back here, =/\= Celina said in a soft gritted teeth whisper. =/\=And put a force field around dinner=/\= she ordered the XO

=/\= Celina… you are a big girl, take the lead and contact me only if this is an utmost emergency. I can’t hold your hand when you are giving command.=/\= Jack replied from the corner he was standing in as he spoke to Celina, away from ears of QT and the others as he got back into step with them.

“Take the lead. Did he just say take the lead,” Celina said through gritted teeth giving Darach the death glare she had intended for her fiance.

=/\=I am following your career Sir. I am not looking for one of my own. And what do you think I am doing here. Telling you to order a pizza? Get me out of here. As usual ten seconds after you leave I am putting up with a frisky kitty that so needs to caged,=/\= she spat back still with her jaw closed speaking only through her gritted teeth. She hoped Jack would get the hint. The last thing she wanted was to yell out ‘hey were being attacked by a pink wanna be caitian. Clearly, the critter understood their language because Celina sure understood it when it spoke.

Jack stopped and smiled at the men and Captain. “Sir, I think I left something on the bridge. Can you continue for just one second and let me grab it. It’ll help along with these delegations.” Jack said, he knew protocol would need him to wait for the Captain to agree, but he hopped the new CO would be forgiving and trust his gut as he had little time to wait to see if he really agreed.

The creature moved onto the next officer from the station, recent graduate to DH, the Lt was inexperienced with this type of situation, and panicked and ran … or he tried to run. He took a step and the the creature sliced him, across his head and body, and he died.

“Unsuitable, disposal initiated,” the creature hissed.

“What the actual ploughing heck!” Max said, and half came to his feet, freezing in place as the creature focused on another Officer. He found himself gripping a steak knife tightly in his hand and glaring at the creature, then at this Nalonx who obviously knew what it was.

The creature turned to a woman in Science Teal and sniffed her, licked her and stared at her, while she stood still.

“Don’t move,” Celina warned the woman. How they were going to get out of this she had no idea. At least for the moment the woman had not lost her head.

“Station CSO, humanoid, ready for collection.” the creature said, and then turned its attention to Darach and padded over to him.

  • GM Dark Tribble

“Hey Max,” Celina said in a low voice still watching what was happening. The creature might be calling for a pickup but there wasn’t any space uber yelling out ‘Yo Pink Panther you got a pick up for me’. That gave the people in the dinner some time to figure things out. “You’re newly married right? Doesn’t that mean you are on rodent duty so got any ideas on how to fix this,” she asked the engineering chief.

Lt.Celina Rodriguez CTO

“I didn’t bring my squirty bottle of water unfortunately” Max said to Celina, “Don’t you have some pepper spray or something in your purse?”

Olivia glanced over to the Logan then back to the creature in front of her. She took a deep breath and held it. After a moment she let it out slowly turning her head toward Logan and shaking her head. This was not what she had signed up for. “What is it she whispered?”

Lt. Grace, CNS

Logan narrowed his eyes as he responded, “A threat.” He whipped out his type two hand phaser.

Then aimed it at the alien. He declared, “Nobody kidnaps people right in front of me, and gets away with it! Stand down!”

CoS

Walker just grumbled, why did the security people always over react and try to shoot things first. Why did officers never listen.

“Lieutenant, I would strongly urge you to put that phaser away, now. We don’t know what the creature is, but the last person who tried running, is laying on the floor in front of us. Unless you want to join him, put that weapon down. Sir.”

Walker hoped that Logan would listen. Because one thing was certain, there was no way in the known worlds that he was going to be cleaning blood out of the carpet because people couldn’t listen to simple instructions.

WO Darach - COO

Olivia placed her hand on top of the phaser and slowly pushed down on it. After she had removed the creature as the target she turned to the Chief “if your not careful you’ll be next.”

Ooc: change of character

Creed, XO

“No ones going to be next if you stay still” Max said, but at the same time wished the Security Chief had fired and obliterated the beast. “What the heck is it” he hissed at Nalonx.

Lt Cmdr Wynter
CE

Walker had stayed still as the creature padded over towards him. As the creature had approached, he held his hands out to the side slightly, turning his palms out, showing he wasn’t planning on hurting the creature.

Jack went down a corridor and found a console with a senor read out. He wanted to read the details of the bridge, rather than ask. He didn’t want things to seem suspicious and he began to scan the life signs to find out just what Celina was talking about before he made the trek to see her. “This better not be you overreacting buttercup.” he whispered under his breath.

Creed, XO

Logan’s years of training kicked in. From his own perspective, everything was moving in slow motion. Except for the alien who was killing and also kidnapping people.

His phaser was in his had. The new counselor had warned him against antagonizing this alien. But it was far too late to consider that now.

Naturally, his type two hand phaser was set at the lowest stun setting. Which he now aimed and cleared the path of his fire from any friendly officer.

He fired at will at the alien.

CoS

As soon as Logan fired, Walker locked his eyes on the creature, watching to see what it would do. It was one thing to listen to sound advice, it was another to stay still as the creature lept and tried to eat him.

WO Darach - COO

Max, however, didn’t stay still. As the Security Chief opened fire, Max leaped over the table and made a dash for the thing. He trusted the Security Chief to adjust his fire, he was no noob. If the phaser didn’t work, however, the beast would need a new target and Max wasn’t ready to let any more of the crew become that target. He tightened his grip on the steak knife as he dashed at the creature, moving to tackle it.

Lt Cmdr Max Wynter - CE/2nd Officer

“Darn it,” Celina said reacting only a half second later after Max. She was not going to try and beat Max to the punch. If he wanted to take the chompy bits of the critter head on more power to him. Celina did not like snakes, but she did like Max. He was funny and witty and seemed to be able to fix anything with either a piece of chewing gum, some tape, or a few grumbles and a well-placed kick. There was no way she was going to let him get hurt. Celina had no idea how strong the creature was so it might just need to people to hold it down if she and Max were able to get that far. It would also allow for Max or Celina to stab it with one of the various eating utensils being scattered about as the other one held it down. Max was a second and half faster than her with his stride and head start but that at least let Celina move to a flanking position for the attack. The critter was fast so she had no idea if this would give her the business end of the critter or not but there was no way she was going to let anything happen to him.

Lt. Celina Rodriguez CTO

Olivia watched as the stupidity ensued. Not once had someone tried to communicate with the creature, but she would. She took a deep breath as she opened her mind to the creature and the emotions of the crew and guests that surrounded her. For a brief second she was over whelmed, but quickly dissmissed everything she was feeling except what she felt from the feline.

Lt. Grace, CNS

Walker just slowly moved back and watched them rush the creature. Why in the world did no one listen. They said to stand still, and not run. So what do they do, they charge it instead. This is why they shouldn’t allow officers to have this much freedom. They tend to leap first, ask questions later, and well figure out what they might have missed 25 steps ago.

WO Darach - COO

Jack made his way to the door of the dinner, Celina had been cryptic but her voice had a sense of urgency to it. Entering the chamber he saw what looked like a horror show before him. So this is what you meant… what the devil did you find pumpkin Jack thought to himself. There was a dead officer on the floor and Celina and Logan seemed to be trying to fight the creature. He was perplexed as to why he saw the COO and CNS standing still but he wasn’t about to waste time trying to figure out what to do when a simple solution could be find.

He knew the station had emergency systems in place for stopping outbreaks, something that no one seemed to think about right now. Tapping his combadge as the trio got ever closer Jack activated his link. “Computer, erect level 3 force field around creature 7G of dinning hall.” Jack said, the shimmer of energy coming up directly in front of the creature as it slammed in, keeping a barrier between them and the rest of the crew.

The force field went up just as Celina’s feet left the floor in her attempt to act like a linebacker at the Superbowl. Sadly much like the worst team in the GFL she fell short of taking down her target. A soft moan left her body as she slammed first into the field and a split second later on the floor. As she put her hands down to lift her up football style she saw it. The shine of a familiar size 15 boot that was polished with such a high sheen, Celina could literally see her reflection in it as the first thing she saw. She hadn’t needed to see it though. She had heard the voice that accompanied that boot.

“Well it’s about time,” Celina said letting her latina twang spill out over her words. “What did you say....oh I know,” she said rising to her feet. contact me only if this is an utmost emergency,” she said trying to imitate her voice. “What exactly constitutes and emergency Jack,” she said forgetting rank for the moment. “How did you expect me to take this thing on?”

Walking up the barrier he tapped it, a orange and white shimmer effect as he felt the slight shock himself as he looked over at he pair, then to the rest in the room. “ایده ها” could be heard from Jack. The phrase roughly translated into idiots in his native tongue, there was a head on the floor as he looked at the rest. His eyes seemed to indicate he was ready to take more.

“Hey,” she said cocking an eyebrow at him. “You know you weren’t here. We were trying our best with what we had.” She really had nowhere to go with complaining. The force field was a brilliant if not a rather boring but effective method of containing the critter.

“Why are you two sitting around jumping around like monkeymen trying to fight that thing? Shoot it, transport it into space… or I don’t know erect a force-field around it!” he said as he threw his hands up and then looked at the other two, “And what the hell are you two sitting there doing nothing at all? Who’s idea was it to do nothing as an officer lay dead at our feet? Did everyone forget Starfleet directive if a force appears hostile you defend with prejudicial force against it.” Clearly Jack didn’t have all the details but it was clear he wasn’t pleased all the same.

Celina was already grumpy after the event and was half a second away from reminding Jack she had found a weapon but another thought crept into her mind. I mean what were you going to do Lina…eat it, she heard a version of Jack quip back in her head if he saw the knife and fork she had opted for as a weapon. Instead of pursuing the conversation she suddenly swiped her foot to the right kicking the knife and fork off to the side that she had dropped during her attack. Celina then looked at Max. Jack was using Persian which meant one of two things and the latter was not something they did in public.

Lt. Celina Rodriguez CTO

There was one person he didn’t know as his eyes focused on him, he didn’t know who he was but. “You, what is going on and who the hell are you? من به خدا قسم می خورم اگر به من بگویید من شما را با این مخلوق قرار می دهم!” as he spoke he said more in Farsi, roughly translating to willing to throw him in the force-field with the creature if he had to could be understood.

Creed, XO

Walker just shook his head, apparently the XO was one of those types of officers who didn’t take time to assess a situation. Instead they just jump in and react first, and then ask questions later.

“Well, Commander,” Walker said emphasizing the pause, “the only person who seems to know what this creature is, specifically told us to not move, and that the creature will react violently if we ran.” He looked around at some of the other officers, especially the ones who had drawn weapons. “And not all of us walk around a supposedly friendly station carrying phasers. Sir.”
