William swallowed staying still so the doctor could contiue his examinations, “I was six when they were arrested. I was then adopted by two wonderful people who loved me and did their best by me so it wasn’t so bad,” he admitted and then he gave a small smile. ” I do sometimes wonder what would have happened if I had been raised by my real parents and how different I would be,” William added and he knew perhaps the answer to that question would likely should be terrifing if he were being honest. Somedays the thought did scare him a bit but mostly he was just curious. William didn’t like to talk about how traumatic being ripped from his real parents had been but it had turned his world upside down.
“I’m not allowed to see my real parents because the federation is afraid some kind of brainwashing will kick back into place. I’m not sure how true that is but I haven’t them in all this time,” William said and then he gave the doctor a smile at his question about the differences the modifications made.
“I have a rather high metabilism which causes me to need to eat regularly. I have a photographic memory and I learn rather quickly. Because of this I am fluent in many languages and arts. The tests the federation did also found I was rather strong, and have higher reflexes. They said more come about even later in life but that’s all I’ve noticed so far,” William replied adjusting a little so the doctor could reach his other side to examine.

Tomas moved around and continued his scans, over all, the slight Deltan was rather impressed at his physical state. The numbers were coming back healthy and In far better condition than would be expected from a man of his age and species, and Tomas had no doubt as to the validity of his claim to greater strength and reflexes. Unfortunately for most genetically engineered people that also came with a sense of superiority and self importance. Tomas wasn’t the counselor here but he wasn’t getting that impression from this man, and if the man had any negative type emotions he was trying to hide, Tomas would certainly have sensed them.

“The brainwashing is a real concern” he told the man, “unauthorized genetic modification or experimentation often comes with a means of exerting some kind of control over the subject. It makes sense if you are creating someone that is potentially faster, stronger and more intelligent than yourself, and is often implanted genetically and becomes almost Impossible to find.”

Tomas stepped back and snapped the sensor I to place, waiting for the last readings to show. “Your up to date with Starfleets required inoculations I take it? You might be an advanced genetic specimen but you still need the shots if they haven’t supplied them yet.”

The scans would show that William was indeed innoculated and as far as the scanner could tell there were no abnormalites in the brain. William understood the concern and shared them for the most part. He was no longer than angry kid who was used to being treated like a soldier. He sighed and looked at the doctor with a little resignation to the situation.
“I do have a specialist in the subject of brainwashing that I have been assigned to speak with regularly. I don’t think they would have cleared me to work on a federation ship other wise. No one is more afraid of my mind being hijacked then me. One of the reasons I chose the profession I did,” William grinned and then let the doctor place another sensor. When the doctor asked about his immunizations he couldn’t help but feel as if it was always the same suspicions of him where ever he went.
“I was given the proper innoculations before I departed Earth. So don’t worry I won’t infect others,” he said with a chuckle. Then as the man read the scans he thought it was a good as time as any to get to know his fellow crewman better. “What about you, have you served on the Atlantis long?”

“Metabolic Rate” Tomas said by way of answer with a smirk. “You can process food faster and to a higher degree so you need more and need to be eating more often or run the risk of fatigue, stress and malnutrition. I’m sure you are used to eating more as a rule but our replicators are able to adjust protein and vitamin levels as per the requirements of the person making the order. If you haven’t already got that in place, that can be set up so that one meal will provide the needed nutrients for your requirements until your next meal. If I can make a suggestion, it may be desirable to put a few of those adjusted orders in place if you intend to eat with the crew often, simply because nothing will seem out of the ordinary in regards to your enhancements, as a counselor you know that genetic modification still makes people uneasy, so it may help you fit into Starship life and your health, think about it yes?”

“The Atlantis” Tomas replied now, putting away the scanner and tricorder and switching off the bio-bed, everything seemed in order with what his medical profile indicated it should be, “I have been here not quite a year now. Before this I served on the U.S.S. Europa after getting out of Starfleet Academy, although when I joined Starfleet I was actually already a qualified Doctor, thank to my Mother and early career choices. I didn’t want to be assigned to a Hospital on a planet and wanted to see the stars, that would be my Fathers influence, he’s Starfleet. How about yourself Mr Cunningham” he asked the man, “ever served on a Starship in this capacity before? Or is this your first assignment on a Federation vessel?”
