After meeting the Captain, the next thing on his list was to ensure that he checked in with the one who would be directly in charge of himself, the Chief of Security. After a small inquiry to a local terminal, he had a new direction to head in. He was curious how serving aboard a human vessel would differ from an Andorian one. He tried to keep clear of any misconceptions or pre-judging the pink skins as they have proven time and time again their resiliency and adaptability when it came to combat. As he arrived to the Security Office he dropped his bag off to the side of the door with a small clank of a few objects in his bag, muffled by the clothes that were in there as well. He depressed the chime, eager to learn about the individual that was behind this door. His antennae focused towards the door, ‘listening’ for anything beyond it.

Ensign Tyv (Security)

“Enter!” called the voice from within. The office itself was normal sized for a starship. It was sparsely decorated, with a few paintings on each of the walls.

There was a work desk with an lcars terminal. On one side was two empty, comfy chairs. On the other side there was the one chair, where the CoS sat. With a large mug of coffee.

Logan looked up as the door opened.
“Yes?” He asked.

CoS

OOC: I was about to bump this one when I saw that ya posted on the other one XD

IC: Much as he did previously in the Captain’s Office he scooped up his bag again really fast deciding on bringing with, and stepped through the Starfleet doors with the natural hiss that they made and set it back down off to the left when inside. He then shifted a PADD that he carried as well to his left hand while setting his right on the pommel of the Hrisal that he carried in order to keep it under control as he seemingly marched over to stand in between the two chairs, dropping his hands to his sides to stand at attention. His antennae seemed to have a mind of their own as they would turn ever so slightly, continuing to survey the room. “Good Afternoon Lieutenant, I am Ensign Tyv Ch’qirross. I have been ordered by Starfleet to serve under your command aboard the USS Manhattan. I have just recently arrived and am reporting as ordered sir.” Tyv kept his gaze straight ahead as he spoke. With his Andorian militaristic background it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise. He continued, “I have brought a copy of my orders along with a Starfleet cultural exemption for my Hrisal, however, I have been instructed to defer to your judgement on whether it should be stored in my quarters or with the Armory..”

Ensign Tyv (Security)

“Oh, your dueling sword?” Logan asked. “Be at ease. Have a seat. You can keep it where you wish. I have an officer who keeps a fully functional crossbow on his bulkhead.”

“Welcome aboard the ship! I’m the security chief. Lt. Logan Drake. Are you finding your way around?”

CoS

Tyv smiled proudly “I’m impressed that you recognized it Lieutenant! Not many people know it’s purpose!” He clapped the side of it before taking a seat to his right as he instructed, flipping his frog so that the scabbard wouldn’t dig itself into the seat, but instead angle parallel with his leg. “A crossbow would have some definite advantage, but in the ice caves of Andoria, it would be rare to find an opportunity for a straight, long distance shot where one could easily close with a bladed weapon!” Tyv adjusted himself in the char before continuing, “It’s good to meet you sir, I’m looking forward to serving aboard the Manhattan. It’s a bit confusing inside the ship, but I don’t forsee any problems finding different places aboard the ship.” It would be pretty sad in his opinion if one couldn’t utilize the resources available to them to find a simple location.

Ensign Tyv (Security)

“Are you one of the ice Andorians?” Logan asked. “I’ve never met one. I hear that they’re telepaths.”

“My instructor at the academy had a sword like that sharpened on a molecular level. There wasn’t much that could stop it, short of a force field.”

CoS

“The Aenar? They’re just a myth.” He waved his hand dismissively and looked up. “I’ve never seen one nor has anyone I’ve ever known .. Perhaps it’s all this white lighting on Federation ships .. maybe it’s making my skin look not as blue as it should be?” He then took a moment to look at his hands flipping them between looking at his palms and the back of his hands. “Your instructor must have been a stout Andorian fighter then to have it that sharp!! Mine’s definitely not that keen, but it’ll serve it’s purpose if the need ever arise!” He gave the scabbard a few pats indicating the fondness he had for the blade at his side.

Ensign Tyr (Security)

(Friendly bump!)

-Mike

“Given your ancestral heritage with your preferred dueling weapon, I don’t see why you can’t carry it with you while on duty, ” Logan said. “I’ll check with the Captain.”

“I’m good with all sorts of weapons, from ranged energy projectors to hand to hand,” he added. “To ship based also. But, I need a good investigations person.”

CoS

At first Tyv wondered whether or not to say anything about already meeting with the Captain, but after a brief internal debate within his mind he concluded that nothing good ever comes from concealing the truth. “I hope you do not take any offense, sir .. but I had met with the Captain previously before arriving to your office. Somewhat of an Andorian tradition that I believe that Starfleet does not quite observe. I had just wanted to meet him to see the kind of person that he was and to an extent so that he could see and understand a bit about myself and my capabilities to better be able to know where I could fit in for his goals in command of this vessel.” He had no qualms with taking charge of his own mistakes if he had any and spoke with no regrets in his actions. “It was him that instructed me to defer to your judgement in regards to my Hrisal. However, it would be ill mannered of me to suggest anything otherwise, but he seemed to be opposed to me carrying a weapon openly while aboard.”

“Though .. I would like to know if you have any classes that you might teach sir in regards to proficiency with weapons. I would enjoy attending these classes and I’m sure there is much I could learn!” His antennae seemed to slightly perk up at the need for a certain section. He wanted to make himself as useful to the ship as possible after his interactions with the Captain so far and hoped that he could be of use for the Chief. “Well .. there’s no one more skeptical than an Andorian! Aside from maybe a Romulan.. but if you have an area that needs some assistance, I would be glad to give my full support sir.”

Ensign Tyv (Security)

“I’m setting up weekly combat training sessions for members of the crew who aren’t in security,” Logan said. “I want to start at the range to assess their abilities. Then go to simulated scenarios.”

“I still need a good investigations person.”

“And I’m looking for an assistant chief
Someone to mind the store.”

CoS

(Bumping for myself as a personal reminder, should be able to get to this later today (sunday))

-Mike

Tyv studied the Chief for a moment somewhat unsure at how to respond, both positions did seem appealing, however as the newest ranking member of the Manhattan he didn’t feel that he would qualify for the assistant position. “I’m sure there might be more qualified officers for the assistant position, but I maintain my statement of being able to assist where ever you might need, sir.” He wondered if he could possible help with the training too since it was catered more towards those who weren’t in security, but he knew he could always inquire about that at a different point in time.

Ensign Tyv (Security)

“Just keep It in mind,” Logan said. “You’d effectively be both our main investigations person. And the assistant Chief. I’ll still have you on the bridge during any red alert. The training for the crew would be additional work handled when we aren’t at general quarters.”

CoS

“If you need someone to handle it, I’ll do my best to ensure that I can keep up with your standards sir! I’ll be sure not to let you down! Though, would I be able to ask what the responsibilities of such a position would entail?” His curiosity usually got the better of him, but he wanted to make sure that he knew what to expect so he could come up with his own plan to make sure that he could do his best in that role.

Ensign Tyv (Security)

“As assistant chief, you’ll be in charge of security when I’m not available,” Logan replied. “I don’t think that it’s as much work as the job suggests.”

“On the investigations side? You’d be the point man for any internal investigations.”
