Alison pulled a chair up next to the force field next to Audrey, and sat down beside her and began talking softly to her. “We’re gonna figure this out sweetheart I promise ” she pressed a couple of buttons and dropped the force field and stepped up to Audrey. Audrey placed her head on Alison’s shoulder and made a whimpering sound. Alison wasn’t sure what to do next the science team had done everything they could think of and they still couldn’t figure out what was wrong with Audrey

A soft, but authoritative voice sounded in Alison’s ear “fix me please” she nuzzled into Alison and began wheezing harder. The scientist took a step back and Audrey retreated back to where she was. Alison reactivated the force field and stood there a moment trying to think of something they may have missed.
After a few moments she sat down at her station and began reviewing the data that they had on Zoltaran culture. Nothing stood out that she hadnt gone over several times before. Out of frustration she started banging her head on the desk. A PADD flew from the desk landing a few feet away from her.

Kane, scientist
Peyton entered into the science labs and saw Kane “How is Audrey doing today?” She asked walking over to Alison.

Grant (sci)

Peyton returned to her work station and continued working on some experiments she had been working on.

Grant (sci)

A few feet away, a young Ensign watched the interaction with excitement in his dark eyes. Quietly, while the other scientists were distracted by their work, he approached the containment field, tilting his head slightly to the right in consideration of the unique creature. “What are you..?” He asked, a near silence to the volume of his voice. He was a new officer, who specialized in star cartography, so he didn’t exactly spend too much time with the biological creatures of the ship.

NE Ba
Scientist

Audrey turned to look at the new person in front of her. “Fix me” she said as she started wheezing. She turned away from the ensign and sneezed.

Audrey

Peyton looked over “We’re trying Audrey, can you tell us how to help you?” She asked walking to Audrey “We haven’t been able to figure it out. Can you help us?”

Grant (Sci)

“Bless you!” Ba frowned, turning to Grant. “What is wrong with her? Is she sick?” He wanted to help, but he was a chemist rather than a biologist.

NE Ba
Science

Peyton looked at Ba “We’re trying to figure that out.” She said “She is not responding to anything we have done.” She said handing over a data PaDD with everything that they had tried, currently trying and trying to project what might work. “Take a look and see if there is something that we’ve missed.”

Grant (Sci)

“Hmm,” Ba took the PaDD, reading over its many contents. “You’ve probably thought of this, but.. Normally, plants would be immune to viruses and bacteria which could cause illnesses such as the common cold or influenza. However, Audrey presents herself with the sentience of an animal–despite her functions as a plant. Is it possible that she could be susceptible to some of the same illnesses that other sentient creatures are?”

NE Ba
Cartographer
“This is something I hadn’t considered, perhaps adding an antibiotic to her nurtrient supplement might be of benefit?” She asked thoughtfully as she began looking at possible new solutions to the problem.

Grant (Sci)

“It could work. Although, you’d probably have to do it in smaller doses, just to be safe.” He thought for a moment, “She seems to be having what almost looks like an allergic reaction to something.. or maybe the flu?” He suggested from what he could tell of the plant. Could sentient plants have allergies? Most of the time plants caused allergies. Then again, Audrey could speak..

NE BA
Cartographer

Being a telepath was a great gift, but it was a gift that required near-expert level knowledge of neuroscience. Barvan, being on his break, would want to study some neurobiology. He headed to the science labs with a PaDD full of scientific ideas and neuro-anatomy drawings.

As he entered the lab, he’d notice Audrey and Grant and waved to them as he headed for the biology section.

Ensign Barvan, Noted Telepathy Scientist

“Ensign?” Riali peered over her microscope from where she was situated at a station in the lab’s biology section, “Can we help you?”

Lt. Deandres, CSO

“Indeed you can. Do you have any crewmembers’ brain scans?”

“Why would I have crewmen’s brain scans, Ensign?” Riali asked, her eyebrow shooting up. “This is a science lab, not a pyschiatry office.”

Swiveling around in the chair she’d taken a seat, Deandres rested her elbow on its back, waving a finger at him. “Why do you need brain scans in the first place?”

Deandres, CSO

Peyton nodded and went back to scans of Audrey. Trying to match DNA in the data base.

Grant (sci)

“Anything?” Ba asked, curiosity driving him impatient for answers. Despite the leisure of his work, Ba liked quick responses.

NE Ba, cartographer

Ensign Barvan, Security

:Because I am a telepath and I am likely going to have to interrogate every single crew member at some point in the future. It helps to know their brain chemistry before doing so.”

Ensign Barvan, Impatient Cognitive Scientist

“No, Ensign. Simply because you are a telepath does not give you the right to go snooping about people’s brainscans.” Riali shook her head, folding her arms over her chest. “That is confidential information which you do not have the position nor the clearance to view.”

“Ensign, if you want to be prepared for interviewing your fellow crewmen, you’re going to have to find a better way going about it.” She huffed, “How about chatting with them? Or is conversation an outdating practice in this century?”

Lt. Deandres
CSO

“What is the clearance required for brain scan access, ma’am?”

Ensign Barvan, Brainscan Snooper
