Alex entered the Ready Room and sat down at his desk. Their pursuit of the probe had not been successful, and they had been left with not only more questions than answers, but no answers at all. Who sent it? Why? What was it looking for? How did it work? How did it simply vanish, reappear, and vanish again with no trace? He drummed his fingers on the desk for several long moments as he tried to figure out an avenue of inquiry. Finally, he tapped the desk.=/\= Computer. Analyze all records of ship reports and records of Delta Quadrant activity. Search parameters as follows: Delta Quadrant technology concerning propulsion of vessels. Species-specific propulsion and scanning technology related to the following species: The Hirogen, Species 6339, Sikarians, Vaadwaur, Taresians, and the Borg. Compare reports of all interactions with those species vessels and the latest interactions of the Manhattan with the subject of all recent scans for the past 8 hours. Display any similarities with scan subjects mode of transit with known transit modes of the listed species. Search for following key words in ship reports in conjunction with interaction with unknown and known vessels: vanish, disappeared, no trace. Compile those records with any further reports on the flagged report subject. =/\=

The computer beeped its interminable response, several moments of silence ensued, as the main computer core engaged, processing gigoquads of data per second as it attempted to fulfill the requirements Cochrane laid out. After nearly a minute of silence, the computer beeped again
