(OOC: You’re all welcome to participate, either by encountering Barvan or joining him on patrol)

After meeting his superior, Barvan would immediately begin patrolling the ship as ordered. First would be the area around the department heads’ offices. He’d make sure everything, including surveillance equipment.

Ensign Barvan, Security Officer

OOC: Luke, as we discussed before, please mind your tenses when posting. Third person past tense is the club standard. To clarify, here you would put “… Barvan immediately began patrolling…”, “First was the area…”, and “He made sure…”. and so on. Please make sure to hold to this going forward. Thank you!

James

IC: As the Captain came around the corner, he was aware of a single figure moving to wards him in the passageway. Looking up from the PaDD in his hand, Cochrane spotted an new face to the Manhattan. In his mind, he thought to himself “New Security JO… what was his name? B-something… Barvan. That’s it.” and then said aloud “Ensign Barvan, yes? I hope I am remembering that correctly. How are you today, Ensign?”

Cochrane, CO

OOC: I can’t seem to remember improving my tenses. Ty for reminding me once again.

Luke P

“That is indeed my name, sir! I am quite good today, thank you. Regular security patrol is what I’m doing now. Thought I’d start in the most important part of the ship!”

Ensign Barvan, Security

Cochrane chuckled. “Well, I know a lot of people who would disagree that this is the most important area, but I appreciate you paying attention to it nonetheless. How are you settling in, Ensign? Finding your assignment here at least palatable, I hope?”

Cochrane, CO

“Palatable would be a good term to describe it,” Barvan said. “Wish I could do a little bit more intellectual work.”

Ensign Barvan, Security

Cochrane cocked his head to the side slightly and said “Such as, Ensign?”

Cochrane, CO

“Away team assignments, investigative work, intelligence work, etc.”

Ensign Barvan, Security

From the corner of his eye, the young ensign might notice that an inspection panel leading to a jeffries tube appeared to be ever so slightly ajar.

Just as he finished his moaning to the captain about lack of work, he then spotted an inspection panel that was a little too ajar for comfort.

“Excuse me, sir, I need to continue my patrol,” Barvan would say, as he backed out of the conversation with the ship’s CO and proceeded to move towards the inspection panel. He then opened it. What would he find?

Ensign Barvan, Security Officer

OOC: Remember those tenses. “Barvan said” and “He wondered what he would find” keep you in the 3rd person past tense, rather than 3rd person present tense.

IC:

There was nothing behind the panel other than an empty jeffries tube. It was entirely possible someone had simply forgotten to close it up properly following an inspection or repair; it was also possible that someone was up to no good. Fortunately, the computer kept a full record of all access codes used to open jeffries tube hatches aboard starships.
