Gwyn walked into the Sickbay quickly and sat down while working on her hand frantically. It had been malfunctioning more frequently then normal.

OCC: Sorry, I missed this. Let’s have some fun ;) ~ Kate

Jasmine looked over her PaDD as she took a sip of her coffee. Today was the check in for one of the newest members of the crew. She left her office and entered Sickbay immediately saw Gwyn Frazer. At six foot five inches she was not hard to miss. Walking over to the biobed, Jasmine extended her hand. “Welcome to the Manhattan. I am Dr. Wynter. How are you doing today,” she asked the ensign.

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

She stood up quickly and saluted. “Ensign Frazer reporting for my evaluation. I’m sorry if I’m late.” She shook her hand and said, “As per your question, I’m fine, mostly.”

Ensign Gwyn Frazer Engineer

“It’s fine. We are not busy,” Jasmine said pulling out a tricoder and beginning to scan Frazer.

OCC: What do I find?

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

OOC: Slight malnourishment. Lack of some vitamins. Elevated heart rate and blood pressure.

IC: She sat back down and had a sigh of relief. “Well, am I good? Will I survive? Or should my family start funeral preparations?” She grinned.

“You could start planning a family dinner,” Jasmine said reading the results of the tricorder’s scan getting a perplexed look on her face. “You came from another post right. You are a transfer?

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

“No. I’m right out of the Academy. Why do you say I should plan a dinner?” She had a puzzled look on her face. She shifted nervously.

Ensign Gwyn Frazer Engineer

“Because there is no way you should be this thin. TIt is reading that you are slightly malnourished. The Academy docs should have caught this on your exit exam before graduating. Malnutrition is caused by having an inadequate diet or a problem absorbing nutrients from food. Malnutrition typically takes a few weeks to set in. Did you take shore leave for an extended period of time before you transferred here,” Jasmine said looking perplexed as she began to scan Frazer’s medical charts that had transferred with her from the academy? If there was a history of this the chart would contain the information. All medical records followed all Starfleet personnel. Hopefully, Frazer had an answer to why this was showing up.

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

“I did take a leave. I stopped eating for a little. Then when I started eating I didn’t eat much.” She shaked slightly.

“And is there a reason for this,” Jasmine asked already checking the box to flag this Ensign for psychiatric help. People did not just stop eating. Since the medical scan showed that nothing was physically wrong with them or the absorption of food, it had to be a psychological issue of some sort. “The not eating part. You know that not eating can cause muscle weakness, exceptional fatigue, a weakened immune system, depression and anemia. This means you would not be in peak health and could cause complications when on duty. ” Jasmine hated when these check-ins were not routine for whatever reason. “Because of this, I can’t clear you for duty until this is resolved. Starships are stressful assignments and you ability to cope with this stress can mean the difference of people living and dying in an emergency. I am going to send you to see the counselor. If she reports back to me that she feels you are okay then I will relook at you with a medical exam. Now you are in no way in danger health-wise now but I am going to flag your replicator rations for the next few weeks. If you are not eating what is considered a balanced diet for your height I will suggest to the CO or XO you be transferred.”

Jasmine hated being the bad guy but as a doctor, her concern for someone went past making rank or living out one’s dreams of sailing the skies in a shiny spaceship. “I am not doing this to be difficult,” Jasmine said in a soft tone. “My job is to your health. I need you to be first and foremost to he happy, healthy, and a productive citizen. I am not a counselor but I can listen and try to help you out but you need to talk to someone. Either me of the counselor okay,” she said softly.

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

“I’ve been trying to eat more. I eat four meals usually. I’ve gained a lot of lost weight and I’m still gaining. I think I should be OK in a couple weeks at most. Of course I still respect your decision.” She said in a sad voice and then sighed.
