The woman held up her hand and stuck out a thumb. “Because someone is feeding the Manhattan alternate orders and you need my help to figure out who,”-she held up her index finger-“and I’m the one whose assignment has been to track all this for more than two years, and”-she added her middle finger-“I’m with Intelligence like you, but I’ve only ever been undercover until recently. I can give you my code name, but then you’ll learn everything about me and I need to know if you’re going to give me the benefit of the doubt before I blow up the carefully constructed world some people have built.” She didn’t say that it was Faye’s world she was mindful of disrupting- he didn’t need to know that just yet.

“You and I both know that isn’t going to cut it, anyone could tell me they are intelligence. That doesn’t mean anything. Give me more of a reason or I walk out and come back with a security team. I am not going to ask again, who are you… designation, rank… I want it all. I don’t have time to play games, and if you want to help this Faye out like you claim now is the time to start talking or else.” Jack said with a furious glare, he was growing tired of secrets and people refusing to answer. If he wanted answers he was going to drag them out of her if he had to.

“Geez. Most people would be more interested in the whole ‘my ship is in danger part’.”

“The ship is always in danger, and usually by the very people trying to tell me the ship is in danger, so excuse me if I don’t jump at the words of someone I can’t verify.” Jack said as he waited for the rest. To be fair most of what she had been saying did add up so far in his head, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t still setting them up. He didn’t stay alive but just taking peoples word.

She could easily just play the game longer, but it wouldn’t serve them any good. So, she finally gave in. “I’m Commander Shara Calloway. Faye is my daughter,” she said softly, gazing deeply at Creed. She had every reason to want to protect Faye, but there were so many variables at play right now and her being her mother was actually lower on the list than one suspect. It was, however, the variable that made all this more urgent to her.

“Commander Colloway? Well come with me me, we can get you verified on the way back to the Manhattan. If your take checks out then and only then will I decide if your facility is a brig or a quarters. Don’t worry I will make certain we get you out of sight of Faye… something tells me you are not here solely for her sake, nor the fact that you didn’t come up on her dossier either.” Ardashir was often no nonsense when it came to the intelligence side of things. His attack on Orion maybe left him a bit jaded. Her nearly most his life and his now fiancé Celina. He didn’t want to keep his posting but here he was point man on the ship for the people he wanted little to do with.

Shara barked a laugh. “Brig? On what charge exactly do you think people will buy? Surreptitious meetings?” She sighed with amusement before leaning forward towards him. “If I meant you or your ship harm, I would have gone through with it already. And I’m certain you already know that. It is possible to confirm my identity, but you’ll have to trust someone higher up in the chain-of-command and that is perhaps more dicey right now than some random commander luring you off the Manhattan. But hey, I took a big risk coming to you to help me with my assignment. Another risk is just a part of the job.”

“I mean for starters if you’re lying and none of this comes back as true you are impersonating an officer, spreading false narrative and posing a potential risk to a Starfleet vessel… lets just say I believe you for now though cause other wise far more paperwork involved.

She rose to her feet and inhaled slowly, moving across her quarters. “I’m okay with going to the Manhattan, but Faye cannot know I’m here. Not yet. I’m not mentioned in her dossier because I’ve always been undercover. I haven’t existed until recently. Not officially. Not for her.” As she talked Shara opened up drawers in the bureau and pulled out a couple items, stuffing them in a bag. “All she knows is that I made it back to the Alpha Quadrant and then… nothing. That was intentional. I didn’t even know she had survived the massacre on Tracken at that point. By the time I learned she was alive,”-she looked over her shoulder at Creed-“it was too late. I was deep undercover, finally using all the skills that the previous seven years had been less than desirable and she was in Starfleet trying to rebuild her life. It wasn’t fair to just show up and interject myself in my life after all that time.” She shrugged. “Still not sure it was the right decision, but then again I think professional shrinks would probably point out that joining a rebel group with a young child in tow probably wasn’t the best parenting decision either.”

“I understand the risks of that, and I have no intention of letting her know you here. Everyone ends up making choices they regret, you think I planned to have this job? I wanted to be a nice engineer working on a simple ship… then they kept promoting me…”

Rising to her feet, Shara slipped on a dark red wig and smoothed it out. “Silly, I know. But we should go see your captain and if anyone spots us I don’t want them getting more than a brief idea of who might be with you.”

~Cmdr. Shara Calloway, Intelligence

“We will, but trust me… I don’t think anyone is going to spot us…” Jack said as he came close to her as he put a transmitter on her arm. “Computer initiate Easy Rider Alpha Sixty.” Jack said as the pair began to materialize as moment later reappeared in a small shuttle. “What… you don’t come with a bag of tricks too?”
