Walker stood outside of the nearest entrance point to the jefferies tubes, specifically Section 14-Epsilon-7. He was hoping that Calloway hadn’t gotten cold feet and backed out of the agreement. If something was really threatening the Manhattan, he was going to do everything possible to help make sure that it failed.

But for now, he needed to wait for Calloway, and hopefully understand just a bit more of what she was actually setting up to stop the virus.

It wasn’t long before Faye appeared, followed by an anti-grav cart laden with supplies. “I wasn’t sure what all we needed, but I’d rather save us a few trips. Shall we go in and assess the damage? Unless you want to wait for Chief Wynter?” She knew her tone didn’t suggest that was an idea she cared much for, but she did promise to be a team-player with all of this, so… she was trying.

“Always good to be prepared,” Walker said patting his own kit. He hadn’t brought much, but he wasn’t sure what they were all going to need to do. So he had brought his most generally used tools, and figured he could probably get through about 90-95% of any possibly potential work with those.

“And I figure the Chief knows where are going. He can catch up when he finally shows up. Better to get the repairs in place, and the ship protected sooner rather then later.”

Calloway gave a simple nod and grabbed her tricorder. Moving to the hatch, she steeled herself and went inside.

She made it a few metres before the damage became all too apparent and cursed under her breath. “Well, this is going to be fun,” she said dryly as she sat cross legged and took some scans. “Whole manifold will need a swap out. Every connecting relay will need a replace and we’ll have to we-ire the entire section not to mention replace the surrounding metal framework. At least they are surface pieces and not bulkheads,” she said, glancing at Darrah. “That would be a nightmare.”

Walker grumbled under his breath. “Who was the engineer that was supposed to have turned off the power? Because I think have a transporter room or two that needs a good scrubbing.”

Faye’s expression shifted quickly. “Right?!” In the meeting she had been treated like she was being a bully for being so angry, but there was a big fat line drawn between being a team player and feeling in danger from a particular person.

Flipping out a PADD, he started looking through what replacement parts they had on board. “Well we have the necessary relays in the cargo hold already. But obviously we don’t have the surface plates, but we can get those replicated in a day or two. The rewiring is what is going to take the longest.”

“Yeah, don’t I know it. I’ve already spent the better part of the last week wiring. Looks like it’s my life for a bit longer,” Calloway said with annoyance.

He sat down the PADD and looked at Calloway. “How critical is it that we connect your device here? We’ve already rerouted primary systems around this area. We could leave our favorite engineer to clean up this mess, and we can make sure that the necessary systems still flow through your addition.”

Faye was thoughtful for a moment before she held her hands out in front of her, palms perpendicular to the ground. Then, with her fingers, she began tracing lines on some sort of invisible map that was clearly in her head.

After a minute, she frowned and opened her eyes again. “Well, I set each juncture at key points where data enters the system and then circulates to the computer cores. This is a key juncture and its position is vital. That being said, With a couple minor tweaks, I think we can move it to section 84 just so long as we add components I have to speed up the reaction time. I haven’t had to use them yet, so I’ve got spares.” She gave Darach a weary and lopsided smirk. “Lucky for us. I hate cleaning up other people’s messes. Mine are usually bad enough.”

“I’m all for letting them clean up the mess,” he said with a chuckle. “I’ll get a couple of techs down here later today to fix up this mess. Though we should probably make sure to tuck your relays back so that they don’t mess with them when they do the repair work.

“In the meantime though, let’s try not to make another mess. I don’t think the Chief is going to tolerate another one so quickly.” Walker had a grin on his face. He could only imagine the Commander’s face if they blew up another juntion.
