Faye was thoughtful for a moment before she held her hands out in front of her, palms perpendicular to the ground. Then, with her fingers, she began tracing lines on some sort of invisible map that was clearly in her head.

After a minute, she frowned and opened her eyes again. “Well, I set each juncture at key points where data enters the system and then circulates to the computer cores. This is a key juncture and its position is vital. That being said, With a couple minor tweaks, I think we can move it to section 84 just so long as we add components I have to speed up the reaction time. I haven’t had to use them yet, so I’ve got spares.” She gave Darach a weary and lopsided smirk. “Lucky for us. I hate cleaning up other people’s messes. Mine are usually bad enough.”

“I’m all for letting them clean up the mess,” he said with a chuckle. “I’ll get a couple of techs down here later today to fix up this mess. Though we should probably make sure to tuck your relays back so that they don’t mess with them when they do the repair work.

“Even more fun is that I will need to swap my parts back out. I can’t leave them in the section. But it’ll take us way less time to remove them than it did to put them in.”

“In the meantime though, let’s try not to make another mess. I don’t think the Chief is going to tolerate another one so quickly.” Walker had a grin on his face. He could only imagine the Commander’s face if they blew up another juntion.

Faye snorted. “Neither would I. And I’m not interested in Burn Unit , Round Two. Trust me, It’s not exactly my idea of fun,” she said as she moved in to one section.

“Can you pass me a hyperspanner? I’m going to disconnect the adjacent parts I had installed to adjust the power flow into my device, and then you can get in there and re-set the receptors for the new manifold.”

“Can do.” Walker grabbed a hyperspanner and passed it over. “You know I had an old bunk mate who actually did try to keep getting back to the burn unit. But there was this really cute nurse he was trying to ask out. We tried to convince him that there were better ways to get her attention, some that were definitely less painful,” he said with a chuckle.

Faye paused and stared at Darrach for a moment before shaking her head. “And people think I’m the crazy one. Clearly he never suffered any serious burns. I wouldn’t wish that pain on my enemies, and well, I wished a lot on them over the years.”

While he waited for Faye to disconnect her devices, he picked up a tricorder and started taking a look at the receptors that the new manifold would connect into. It should be a simple recalibration and the team would be able to follow behind them and drop in the new manifold in a couple of hours.

Unhooking various items, Calloway set them carefully in a small crate for safe keeping and scooted out of the COO’s way. “Watch the rate when you re-hook. It was adjusted but it’s lower and I don’t trust the team later to notice. Better to start from default and let them adjust from there.”
