Okay, so she knew that any doctor worth their salt would brush it off and say it was just a part of the job. And most of the time, she’d let them. But things were different here and as much as she was able, Faye wanted to put her best foot forward. After all, when things finally got sorted out with her orders and she could actually get to just doing her actual work here, well, she wanted people’s first reaction to her to not be wanting to run away. She wanted the Manhattan to be a place she could really settle in on, and maybe, just maybe, call home.

Holding a small box that fit in her right hand, Calloway slipped into Sickbay and did a quick scan with her grey-green eyes. Not spying her quarry, she approached one of the med staff. “Hey, is Chief Wynter around?”

Ensign Baht looked Faye up and down with a quick glance as she approached him, setting aside the PaDD with crew files he had been reviewing. “Um…” he stalled, looking around sheepishly and running a hand along his bald blue scalp as it traced his bifurcating ridge. “I’m sure she’s here somewhere… but maybe the head nurse could help you?” He turned to Yvonne and shrugged.

Yvonne looked left and then right and let out a hrumph sound. “You don’t come here often do you,” she let out a laugh. “She’s watching her show. You know that one about the hot cop that saves everyone with the cheese catchy line ‘babe you don’t need a squad to save you. You only need Rod McChaud. Girl it’s just pure drivel but the actor is mmmh mmh mhhh fine. She’s in text office,” the sassy nurse hooked a thumb at the room on the left. “If you wanna good laugh,” Yvonne got a smile on her face. “Sneak up on her. She’s gonna act like she is reading a report but ain’t no report gonna hold your attention that long.”

Yvonne Washington. Head duty nurse.

If she came to Sickbay often, Faye would have to be a bit worried for her health. Still, the random detail about Jasmine made her have to hide the ensuing smirk. “Riight. Okay then, thanks for the head’s up.”

Moving quietly, she poked her head around the door frame and looked straight at Jasmine. “Please tell me that next time I burn off my face I get Mr. Hot-Abs as a part of my recovery.”

“Excuse me,” Jasmine said quickly shutting off the screen and looking at Faye. It only took a second for her to bust out laughing. “Yvonne told you it was the Rod McChaud hour didn’t she,” Jasmine shook her head with a smile.

“Something like that,” Faye said, trying hard to not smirk but failing.

“Thank you Yvonne,” Jasmine yelled out from her office.

“Ummm hmmmm. I got ya’ chief,” she said and added with a deep laugh. “You know if you would just turn on the EMH you ain’t gonna miss what I’m seeing and honey I am seeing a lot. Damn that white boy is hot,” Yvonne let out a satisfying humming sound.

Leaning back in her seat Jasmine gestured for Faye to sit. “So you know our guilty secret. Every department has one. When Max says the warp core is out of subspace variance,” she air quoted the engineer in term. “He’s playing that
Oubliette and basilisks dice game thingy,” she shared.

“Good to know,” Calloway said with a light laugh, filing that detail away for another time.

“So what can I do for you,” jasmine leaned forward on the desk. “How are the burns? Any more issues with light sensitivity and your eyes?”

Lt. Jasmine Wynter. CMO

“Everything seems okay, thanks to you,” she said, gesturing to Jasmine. “But I heard that things got a bit… dicey while I was a bit out of my mind with either pain or sedation and I feel like you need something just in case we end up in a similar situation.” Faye handed Jasmine a little black box with a lid that slipped off. Inside was a black eye patch.

“My way of apologising, even though I know you’re going to tell me it’s not necessary,” Faye said.
