Feeling rather giddy, Kiama walked slowly down the corridor from her quarters to the counsellor’s office. Her black eyes sparkled with the delight of being on this ship. Her first assignment since her recent graduation from the Academy. And what was even better, an assignment that took her pretty much as far away from her mother as possible. Of course, it would be easy enough for Jeanoya to reach her daughter via subspace transmission and if she wanted to she would probably also find a way to come all the way to the Delta Quadrant in person. But those were possibilities Kiama didn’t even want to think about, so she pushed them to the back of her mind and instead focused on the here and now.Several minutes later the Ensign arrived in front of the door to the counsellor’s office and without hesitation the mocha skinned Betazoid pressed the chime and made sure her uniform and hair were still in order.
