Zimmermann walked into the shuttlebay as a few crewmembers in operations yellow carted the last crate of scientific equipment into the small craft the away team would be taking to the surface. At first glance, one might presume the amount of equipment to be rather overkill - however, they were nonetheless required for the field analysis the Captain desired, since the ship’s sensors were unsuitable in this scenario. It’s going to be a tight squeeze for the away team… Let’s just hope we’re not in any rush!

Nodding in acknowledgement of the junior operations officers as they returned to their other duties, the CSO looked around to take an account of who had arrived before him, all the while prodding his PADD in further preoccupation.

The doors whooshed open as Sheriye glided quickly through them, toting her own case. Fortunately the case wasn’t very large and could tuck under her seat. She stopped beside the CSO and watched in turn herself as the shuttle crew continued to load what was required.

Kaia stepped into the shuttlebay, Engineer’s kit over her shoulder and URI strapped on her wrist. “Alrighty, I’m here for the away mission?” she said to the nearest person who looked like they were remotely in charge.

Jasmine entered the shuttle and stowed her bag in its appropriate place. Taking a seat she waited for take off.

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

The engineering crew swarmed around the shuttle “You guys are ready to go.” One of them said “Safe journies.” They said and stepped out of the bay and headed to the launch bridge and waited for the crew to get aboard and leave.

Kaia made her way into the Shuttle, finding a place to sit and wait for the ride to be over. To be honest, she wasn’t particularly happy to be in a shuttle once again, but she supposed that she would just have to deal with it.

OOC: Moving this along slightly… join in above if you missed out :P

IC: The CSO took stock of each of the members of the away team as they shuffled their way into the now comically-packed shuttlecraft. Checking everything off of the crew and supply manifests one final time, Heinrich made his way in to the open aft of the small craft, taking the final unoccupied seat - toward the front of the shuttle, between the pilot and CMO. The German scientist gave a nod to the ensign who had been hand-picked to pilot the vessel through this unknown situation, before giving her a command in his thick accent.

“Alright, ensign. We are ready to depart.”

Lieutenant Heinrich Zimmermann,
Chief Science Officer

Kaia waited for their departure.

Sheriye followed the others and stowed her kit below her seat before sitting. The shuttle was indeed full and she carefully tucked her tail out of the way of the aisle to prevent it from getting stepped on. She then turned and waited for the shuttle to takeoff.

OOC: Short scene I know, but this is for anyone on second team, show up and we will roll out too shortly.

IC: Jack entered, the first team he could see was on their way. The Chief of Security and his team was coming, prepping the second shuttle for lift off.

Creed, XO

“Sir,” Jasmine said getting comfortable in her seat as the XO entered her shuttle. She also pulled out a PaDD. It would take a bit for the shuttle to lift off so she decided to relax a bit before things got hairy so to speak. “Hey Heinrich…question for you,” Jasmine asked looking at the CSO. “What’s your favorite color? Red, blue, yellow, green, white or black,” she asked him and looked up for his answer.

Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO

OOC: who’s on which shuttle?

OOC: The CSO, the CMO, Sheriye, and Kaia are one one shuttle; the XO is on another , waiting for the CoS (and probably an NE or two).

IC: Zimmermann glared in a bewildered fashion at Wynter as she asked the rather oblique question, before shaking that feeling off and pondering a suitable answer. “Err… Green? I’m not sure I follow the purpose of this, lieutenant…” Now vaguely intrigued at the possibilities of what this conversation could evolve into, the CSO turned to face the CMO, raising an eyebrow, speaking again with a slightly humorous tone.

“You don’t need to,” Jasmine said marking down his answer on the PaDD.

“Why do you ask, mein doctor? Is this some psychological exam I am yet to catch up on?”

Lieutenant Heinrich Zimmermann,
Chief Science Officer

“Yes a very important one that will help me figure out what makes you tick. I am taking a correspondence course in psychology,” Jasmine said in a serious tone but herr smile indicated she was very much teasing. “Okay so question number two,” she wiggled a bit in her seat before settling back. If you had to pick one place to live where would it be? Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, New York City, Switzerland, or South Africa?”

Lt. Jasmine Wynter CMO

The senior scientist’s eyebrow somehow raised further at the suggestion of the CMO participating in a remote learning course on psychology, before dealing a subtle jab. “Ja, and I’m sure it’s going as well as my correspondence course in forensic physics…” Whatever Wynter was up to, it was sure to be completely and utterly unorthodox!

Pondering the options some more, Heinrich began to eliminate the locations one by one, aloud. “Well, my last symposium was in South Africa - I can’t say I too much like what they have done with the architecture there. Plus, similar to the Australians and New Zealanders, they have far too much of an accent; that’s those three eliminated, I suppose.” Zimmermann’s words were heavily tinted with a German accent, making the claims all the more humorous - but of course, his jesting tone suggested he knew that.

“Hmm… Fiji seems too tropical and exotic - but on the contrary, New York seems far too pedestrian a choice, pardon the pun. I suppose that just leaves Switzerland, by process of elimination…” The sly smile on the CSO’s face alluded to the fact that there may have been reason to believe the Swiss had his vote all along.

“That, or the fact it’s a hub for every noteworthy physicist. Not that it swayed my decision… that much.” Heinrich beamed at Jasmine, awaiting her reaction - and her next question.

Lieutenant Heinrich Zimmermann,
Chief Science Officer

Kaia listened to the two, curious.

Meanwhile, in shuttle two, Jack began the pre flight check. “Docking control this is Commander Creed, what is our eta?”

Creed, XO

Logan found himself getting onto the second shuttle, with the XO. He nodded as he took the tactical station. Then he started to run the standard pre-flight check on the shuttle’s defensive systems. “I rather wish that this was a runabout,” he admitted as he worked. “They have a much higher safety rating.”

BOth shuttles where given the green light to head out of the shuttle bays and toward the surface and the distress signal.
