Balian was a tactical captain, but he understood the limitations of the ship he was now in command of. What he did not know was the full capability of the Hirogen ship, so he ran a bit of a gamble with his next statement. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Tarnaj, I presume, you will find us no easy meat, you will find your teeth blunted, your claws foreshortened, and yourself maimed, even should you prevail. You will have what I will allow, when it is ready, not a moment sooner, if you grow weary, then take a nap. I am Captain Balian Ibn Barazan, and on that you have my Oath.” Balian stated flatly. He needed to establish the place of the Manhattan here and now, or this would continue, as the Hirogen demanded, and dictated. Balian made a motion to silence the Comm. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Wow, Celina thought trying to keep a neutral expression when all she wanted to do was say Damn Captain. If that is your authority voice bring me up on charges. There was something primal and oddly alluring to the way the newest Captian commanded the other Captian on the other end of viewport. Balian left no room for debate and defintiely was not going to discuss his decision in a committee. Why he was single was not becoming the discussion of every single woman on the Manhattan. Slowly Celina let her eyes drift to the right of her Captain to the XO. Jack had a way about him that was just as striking but rarely used, at least with her. Shaking her head she tired to clear her mind of the image Jack dressed from the movie Troy and using a few of those spears on Balian’s wall to protect his hearth and home. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. Celina Rodriguez, CTO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : =^= Understood Lt. Grant =^= Balian stated before turning back to the Screen. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Do we have an accord Tarnaj?” Balian asked, after having given the being a moment to chew on the Captain’s last words. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Captain Balian Ibn Barazan, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Tarnaj glared at Barazan “We have an accord.” He said “We will wait patiently.” He said and closed the comm link before telling his second to do a passive scan of the Manhattan and determine any weaknesses. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Logan found himself holding his breath as he awaited the alien’s reply. It wasn’t often that he itched for a fight of epic proportions. That could lead to some very unforeseen outcomes. But if they wanted a fight, they’d get one for sure. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : As soon as it was cleared, he’d start the download for the Hirogen. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Logan Drake : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : CoS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Creed watched, curious as to what Tarnaj would say. He had to admit, their ride into the Delta Quadrant had been an interesting one for certain. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Creed, XO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Discovery Mouse : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Balian for his part did not glare, but his blue eyes were steel, and while the Manhattan was not a battle cruiser, this would not be a good day for Tarnaj if he aggressed. When Tarnaj agreed, Balian inclined his head in respect one hunter to another, and turned to Lieutenant Drake. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Commence Download, as soon as it is complete” Balian had no idea if the program was complete, that was not part of his thoughts at the moment. Turning the other direction, his face away from the viewer, “Commander Creed, ensure we are at full charge on the Polaron Lance, should the need arise.” Balian winked, he knew there was no such thing, but it gave Tarnaj something to consider and perhaps slow him down from active aggression. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Finally turning back, Balian smiled, looked a bit sheepish and signaled to end the Comm as if he had forgotten to do so prior. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Captain Balian Ibn Barazan, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Balian’s last statement caught the Hirogen commander by surprise. A new weapon. Now he must know what was going on, however he was a man of his word and would not break that promise, but he didn’t make that promise for all Hirogen, he would pass the information along to those that needed to know and let them take on the ship. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : It was only a matter of minutes before the holoprograms were downloaded and ready to transfer to Tarnaj’s ship. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Discovery Mouse : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : At the science station on the Bridge, Peyton transferred the basic information that she had been able to obtain from her scans of the planetoid on the opposite side of the gravity well. It was in no danger of being destroyed, however Voyager had missed it, because they had been too focused on the gravity well and the damage it could do to the ship. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The planet was oxygen and nitrogen based with breathable air, several bodies of water, however there were no indications of civilizations and if there was a civilization, it was very primitive. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Grant (sci) : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Once the Hirogen had been dealt with for the moment. Balian relaxed a bit, and grinned at the officers on the Bridge. The grin did not help to dampen the devil may care Piratical appearance of the Man in Red with four solid pips. Balian quirked an eyebrow. “Commander Creed catch me up to speed please” while it was politely phrased there was no doubt in his tone that this was not optional. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Captain Balian ibn Barazan : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Creed nodded, the trip to the Delta Quadrant had been weird so far, and their finding Balian had not been something he had expected up to this point. “Yes sir, you want the cliff notes or would you prefer your ready room?” Jack asked him, wanting to find out how he wanted to get the information to him. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Creed, XO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : With a glance at the crew around, nothing at the moment was secret that he was aware of. Settling into the command chair for the first time, he sighed contentedly, “Lets go with the cliff notes, I can read the full brief later when there is time.” Balian stated, knowing that the Hirogen attitude could change at any moment. Or the gravity well could begin draining power again. So time was of the essence, and he needed to be ready for what ever came next on the agenda. Balian already knew the basic of the overall Delta Quadrant Mission, and they needed to get back to the Station soon to check on it. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Captain Balian Ibn Barazan, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : “More or less, we came to fix their holo emitters, Hirogen made a deal with Voyager when they were in this sector and gave them Federation holo technology. Seems they don’t wish to be very grateful and are trying to push our hand a little more. We have a encrypted data cylinder engineering is going over to see what happened and how best to fix it to meet their standards.” : : : : Balian nodded, that fit with what he thought he knew, and that brought him up to speed. The Hirogen, were a demanding race, the bluff he had run earlier, meant that the Hirogen would likely test them at some point. Like Klingons they always felt they had something to prove. That meant that Balian had to create a few surprises for them. As well he had to make sure he made no mistakes fatal to long term relations with the Species they controlled and moved through vast tracks of this quadrant. : : : : .:: : : : =/\=Bridge this is Lt. Wynter. I have a sick bay full of crewman that are experiencing extreme motion sickness to the point of debilitation in some. Is anyone up there affected? It appears to be across all areas of the ship and not limited to a single area or department,=/\= she asked. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. Jasmine Wynter CMO : : : : : : : : : : : : =/\=Captain NEsign Griffin has informed me that he is in contact with people on the surface of the planet. Can you confirm life signs, =/\= Jasmine asked. : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt. Jasmine Wynter, CMO : : : : : : : : : : =^=Understood Doctor, it is from the Power and Gravity Fluctuations I am certain, we will look into it. As for people on the Surface=^= Balian glanced at the Science Officer and Chief of Security who were on the bridge, “Can we confirm these readings?” : : : : : : : : : : Captain Balian Ibn Barazan : : : : : : : : “Running the sensor sweep now, Captain,” Logan replied. “Also, I have never experience space sickness. Sea sickness, yes. But not space.” : : : : : : : : Lt Logan Drake : : : : CoS : : : : : : Creed, XO : : Balian waited for the sensor sweep to be completed. If there were people on the surface, and they needed help, Balian was going to have to figure out how to get close enough to effect a rescue, without tearing his ship apart, or appearing in a weak enough position that the Hirogen went back on their word. And this was just his first day in command. He almost sighed, but that felt more like something that bald headed putz would do so he kept it contained. Instead he settled into the Command chair, and looked as confident as Don Juan of the Space Lanes would have. He did adjust his tunic as he did so in the way that was considered the signature maneuver of the putz, it was just unconsciously. : : : : Captain Balian Ibn Barazan : : The sensors picked up the readings that had been picked up in the science labs. There were two distinct distress signals, the weaker one toward the midpole of the planet and the other at the northern pole was stronger. If there were life signs they were masked by something but why else would there be distress signals if someone wasn’t in distress. : : Discovery Mouse

Logan reported his sensor findings. “We might be getting some interference with scanning at the equator,” he warned. “I’m not sure if that’s a natural or artificially created issue.”

: OOC: Cross posting a post from the CSO : =/\=”Captain. If we don’t already have plans in place, I’d like to suggest we form an away team to investigate the sites, on the ground. There’s only so much our sensors can do if there is something actively trying to avoid being scanned, which my team and I believe to be the case.”=/\=

Balian considered this for a moment, =^=Have we analyzed the gravity issues for the safety of an Away team? Can we beam down, I doubt the shuttles can bear the strain=^= Balian asked in return. If there were people in need it was his job to attempt a rescue if possible, but not at the expense of his own people.

Captain Balian Ibn Barazan

USS Manhattan

=/\=”Unfortunately, sir, I would suggest transporting is not an option. With the active interference of the two sites, it puts our transport at risk. Not to mention we’d be beaming in completely blind. Furthermore, I don’t think we could beam all of the equipment I’d like to bring, in one sitting. No, I certainly suggest bringing a shuttle would be recommended, if you could allocate an experienced pilot.”=/\=
