Kiama was sitting in her new office and was working her way through all the personell files of every member of her department. While she had worked and talked to some of them since coming here, it hadn’t been long enough to really get to know either of them. Not to mention that till now she hadn’t seen the need to have a close look at her co-workers files. But as the newly appointed acting Chief Science Officer, she needed to know as much about each person’s background as possible; both in regard to the field they specialised in, but also about them as individual people. Though the latter would naturally take much longer than simply reviewing personell files.

And then, of course, there was Lieutenant Faye Calloway. The woman had intrigued Kiama from the first moment they met. As far as she understood, she wasn’t exactly part of the science department. Or at least Calloway didn’t have to report to report to her. Yet with the new mission, Kiama had a feeling that she could be a real asset to them. Without giving it any further thought, she tapped her combadge and said, =/\= Lieutenant Naim to Lieutenant Calloway. Can you please report to the Chief Science Officer’s Office? There are a few things I’d like to talk to you about. =/\=

A long moment passed before Calloway’s crisp voice replied. =/\=Can do, Lieutenant. I figured we’d have to to sooner or later. Give me ten minutes. Calloway out.=/\=

While waiting for Calloway, Kiama opened the Lieutenant’s file to review and was surprised to see that apparently with her promotion she’d been given slightly more access to her file. And yet what she read still didn’t come close to answering all the questions she’d had since first meeting her. And in fact, opened up a few more.

Sure enough, ten minutes later, Calloway arrived. She tightened the elastic that held her dark brunette hair back and pressed the chime, stormy-grey-green eyes curious and wary.

“Enter,” came the chipper voice of the newly appointed aCSO from the other side of the door.

Upon entering Calloway would find herself in a very standard Department Head’s office. As of yet, there were no personal items like photographs or other knickknack. The only indication - other than the dark-skinned Betazoid sitting behind the desk - that the office was actually in use were a number of PaDD on the desk; all stacked in neat piles. And also a half-empty tea cup and a small plate that had a few crumbs left on it.

Faye’s gaze swept around the room intently, absorbing details. The bareness of the space was not unexpected, nor was the precision fo the room’s occupant. All fit neatly into Faye’s perception of Naim so far.

Rising to her feet, Naim greeted Calloway with a warm smile and gestured towards the chair in front of her. “Please have seat. Can I get you anything from the replicator?”

Faye waved her off slightly. “Nah, I’m all good,” she said, moving for a chair. Settling herself in and leaning back, Calloway gazed at Kiama curiously. “So, now that you’re running the show, as it were, I bet you’re curious what I can actually tell you about my work.”
