IC: Kaia nodded. “Sure, I think I included the data on interior structures in this program…” she scratched her head, thinking. “Well, if it is not there, we will soon know.”

She stepped over to the smaller of the two structures and pushed aside the cloth covering the door. Inside was a very simple space, with a small bed in one corner and a clay fireplace built against the wall. There seemed to be room for some storage as well, but it was ultimately a very simple dwelling.

Kaia, engineer

Kiama followed Kaia into the smaller of the two houses, automatically bowing her head slightly as she walked over the threshold. While there was no doubt that it was a simple home, there still was a certain coziness about it. And quite frankly, she had already spend way too much time for her liking in large manor houses. She silently looked around the house and let her fingertips brush lightly over the cloth covering the door, the walls, the mantelpiece, … “I like this place,” she said very softly.

Kaia smiled quietly, looking around. “It’s a cozy little home. I’ve never lived in one. This isn’t something we do in the city.”

After a while, she stepped back out of the small home and waited for Kiama to join her.

Kaia, Engineer

Kiama stayed a few moments longer and looked around some more. When she left the little house, she asked, “How does life in the city differ from this?” As she spoke, she made a gestures with her hand, palm up, to indicate everything around them.

“It is higher up, for one,” Kaia gestured into the treetops. “And the trees are bigger. Want to see the regular house, or would you like to keep going and see where the trees get a little bigger?”

Kaia, Engineer

Her black eyes sparkled and a wide, slightly lopsided smile played across her face. With her left eyebrow slightly raised, Kiama asked, “How about both?I’d love to see and learn as much about you, your home and your people as you are comfortable to share.”

Kaia nodded, smiling, and they went into the second house. Kiama would have to duck, once again, as these building weren’t exactly made for people of her height. It was like a wizard in a hobbit’s cottage. This second abode was more complex than the first, being made of multiple rooms. In every corner where two walls met there was a tree, and each of the logs that made up the walls seemed to almost grow naturally out of the living trees, despite the trees being live and the logs being dead wood.

The room they entered first was a kind of reception area, with a pretty comfortable looking seating arrangement and a table pushed to the side. There were a few chests, and an instrument of some sort that was somewhat similar to a guitar or other stringed instrument in shape.

Kaia, Engineer

As she entred the house, Kiama gently brushed the the door frame and then the wall with her hand. Despite the fact that she felt like a giant, there was something incredibly comforting about both the houses she had seen so far. Maybe it was that these house felt like they had grown instead of having been build.

Spotting the instrument, she asked, “May I? What is it called?” While she wasn’t particularly musical herself, she’d always enjoyed listening to music and watching other people play an instrument.

“Um, yeah. Go ahead. It is a simulation,” Kaia said in an attempt to explain. “You may touch or investigate anything you wish to. That is called a Tor’she Shod’kaf. Shod’kaf in normal use.”

Kaia, Engineer

OOC NOTE: all o’s in galdori words are the same o used in the word for. As a species they have a limited phonics library, and every letter makes only one singular sound. so it’s not shod as in a shod my horse.

Miriam

OOC: Thank you for explaining :)

IC:
“Thank you,” Kiama replied, her eyes sparkling. “And I know. It just felt rude to just touch something,” she added with a short, nervous giggle. “This place does feel like a real house. I keep expecting someone to just walk in and ask what we’re doing here. There is so much scope for the imagination here. And yet I’m trying not to let my imagination cloud my senses. I want to see, hear, smell and feel what it is really like and not what my imagination tells me.” Shaking her head slightly, she walked slowly over to the Shod’kaf and picked it up. Sitting down on the floor, she placed the instrument on her lap and gently stroked the strings, listening closely to the sounds.

Kaia watched as Kiama played around with the Shod’kaf. It was an interesting sound that came from the instrument, a soft, tangy strumming. It was also a little awkward for Kiama to hold unless she was used to using a ukelele. It did sound a bit like a Uke’lele, with four strings pulled tight across a frame with a bit of a handle and a body with a hole to allow the reverberation of sound.

Kaia, Engineering

For a moment she tried to press some of strings down at the neck to change the sound of the string, but found herself struggling a little. Not only with the size of the instrument, but also for the simple fact that she’d never tried to an instrument before that was even remotely similar to this one. Looking up, she asked, “Can you play it, Kaia?”

~Ensign Naim, Science

Kaia shrugged. “A little. I took lessons, but I was never very musical. I can certainly try, though,” she said with a small grin. She took the small instrument and settled in a half-seated position up against the wall, testing the strings in her paws before strumming a short melody. Her playing was simple, but from the way she handled the instrument, it was within the realm of imagination that someone with notable talent in it’s usage could make some beautiful or fun music.

For a moment, Kiama watched as Kaia played, but it wasn’t long till she closed her eyes to focus as much as possible on the music. While she listened a soft smile spreaded across her face.

“If we were near Galdor, I would take you to a concert.”

Kaia, Engineer.

Blinking a couple of times, Kiama looked at her and said, “I’d love that. Thank you. I hope we’ll get close to Galdor one day.” Without thinking about it, she moved closer to Kaia and gently wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
