Kaia purred slightly, then opened the last door. At the end of the corridor there was this door, then a staircase leading up. “You’ll like that,” she said, gesturing to the stairway. The room was fairly simple, with a wide hammock slung up between two walls and a cabinet of sorts against one wall.

“Oh?” Kiama replied with a smile before into the next room. The moment she could see inside her face lit up even more and a soft, happy sigh escaped her lips. “How wonderful! Sleeping in a hammock sounds so romantic and must be very relaxing!” she beamed. Kiama then turned around and looked around more closely while letting her hand trail over the hammock.

Ooc: a.sorry for the lack of clarity. The room described is the one at the bottom of the stairs

Kaia giggled. “It is pretty comfortable. We sleep in these in the city as well. It took some getting used to, sleeping on mattresses at Starfleet Academy and on the Manhattan. In the end, I jury-rigged a hammock for myself in my bunk.”

“I can imagine!” replied Kiama with a soft chuckle before turning more serious for a moment. “While we were in hiding during the Occupation we ended up sleeping on every improvised beds. It took me a while to adjust to them. Though since I was a child I probably had an easier time with it than most of the adults around me.” She gave small shrug and her trade-mark smile spread over her dark face once more as she let her gaze wander around the room once again.

She stepped over and clambered into the hammock, crossing her legs and closing her eyes.

Kaia, Engineer

For a moment Kaima simply watched Kaia. She then lowered herself to the ground, close to the hammock but at a place where she could still see her friend. Sitting there cross-legged, her arms behind her carrying the weight of her upper body, she let her mind wander while her gaze still lingered on Kaia.

Kaia was quiet for a bit. She relaxed, laying back in the hammock. After a few moments, she got up suddenly. “Computer, scale up the simulation of this room by 75 percent and model a hammock of the original size, rigged up beside the original!”

It took a moment, but then the simulation glitched out a bit, and Kiama would suddenly feel a little smaller as the whole.room had become much more appropriately sized for her. Including a hammock she could sit in.

Kaia

Kiama chuckled softly as she looked around the room that suddenly seemed so much bigger. She hadn’t minded that the house wasn’t exactly build for someone her size. After all, this was Kaia’s world and everything was build for her people. Unlike Starfleet vessels were everything seemed to be designed for at least average sized humans. She wondered how Kaia felt about it, yet she seemed so relaxed and happy, and so Kiama didn’t want to ask any questions that had the potential of making her sad. So instead she said, “Thank you!” And in a much softer voice, she added, “Let’s see…” as she tried to clamber into the hammock. She’d read about them in books and had seen pictures of them, but had never actually sat in one. So she wasn’t quite sure how to best approach this. And indeed, as she tried to sit down, the hammock moved so that she landed back on the floor instead. A soft “Ouch” escaped her lips while she was laughing at herself at the same time.
