She regarded him quizzically, trying to suss out whether she should even say anything. But then again, she was Faye and Faye Calloway certainly never minced her words. “I… have to admit to being a bit confused. You said this would about my requisition request. Surely a more… social pretense would be appropriate off duty?”He had interrupted her work and she was loathed to let it get any further behind than it already was after the explosion. “Is this about the conduit incident?”

“Maybe… but things aren’t always what they seem are they?” he said with a deep breath. Jack wasn’t really sure where to go with niceties, grab and bag worked so much better. Dark dim dank room with leaky pipes and not higher than normal altitude seemed to be able to find truth far faster that way. He had two Admirals though and a Captain telling him to place kid gloves on. They all assumed she was being duped, hoodwinked, bamboozled… as Celina might have said. Jack’s fiance’ was always watching god awful period pieces that had terms no one used. If Celina had her way she might suggest the hoosgow right now.

“Your taskforce… has been brought to my attention…” Ardashir said as he tapped his combadge. =/\= She’s ready I think Captain, now is a good time.=/\= he said as he activated his screen that brought up images of Faye that he swiped through until he landed on his own. Reversing the image he let Faye’s eyes center around it. “We haven’t had a full chance to be introduced… not really,” he said, the image on the page would list the following brief bio.

* Security Clearance 9 *

Name: Ardashir Jack Creed

Dosier: Ardashir is currently First Officer and Chief Intelligence Officer of USS Manhattan…

The page went on briefly before Jack turned off the page as he got an unobstructed view of Faye. “I hate politics, and I hate when departments can’t communicate… and it seems you and I are stuck in something now that… well maybe she can best explain this,” he said as they heard a swoosh from behind them.

Faye’s expression certainly didn’t mask how stunned she was. It wasn’t such a crazy revelation. Okay, so there was an Intelligence officer already on board and he was in control. Except she, as a senior field agent, should have known that. And he should have known about her stuff. And did he? Oh Gods. A chill ran through her at the possibility that he knew about her secondary mission.

Her brow furrowed deeply and she shook her head. Lifting her hands slightly, she squinted a bit as she clearly was trying to work something out in her head. “Okay, so… you’re my boss, for all intents and purposes. Cool. Nothing changes there, because I already reported to you.” She frowned deeper and looked up at him. “But why wouldn’t they tell me you were involved with Intelligence. I mean, I knew that you had that connection, but not that you were actively assigned. And… so… what did they tell you about my assignment then?” She was assuming so far that he knew about her being seconded. But what if he hadn’t been told initially? What then? What did this even all mean?”

~Faye Calloway, Data Scientist

“Your assignment is what we are wanting to bring up… but the Captain wanted to be apart of that more in detail. I just wanted to give you a chance to add anything you felt needed beforehand. What we know of the signature your tracking… it concerns me. If you feel you want to do that with him, we can pause as he should be heading to his ready room any minute.” Jack said with a muted pause as he eyed Faye, wondering what her responses to all this would be.

Her brows still knit, Faye shrugged. “He knows all about my assignment here. I’ve given him my full disclosure at risk of getting myself into trouble, so sure, let’s go talk to the Captain. He’ll vouch for me,” she said with certainty, rising to her feet.

“There is… a bit more to your assignment than I think any of us are aware,” Jack replied, he didn’t know what all he should give out. He wasn’t sold this was all on the up and up as of yet and didn’t

She gestured to the door. “After you, Commander.” There were a lot of questions she had but Faye at least knew what she knew for sure. And Cochrane had promised her the benefit of the doubt. Now would be time for him to make good on that promise.

Jack nodded as he got up, leading out the door first as the pair began to make their way to the Bridge to reach the ready room. After a few moments, they stood in front of the door as Jack reached up and paged to alert the Captain they had arrived. He wasn’t quite sure where he needed to go next.
