Cochrane’s eyes flashed and he smiled broadly. “Challenge accepted!” he almost shouted and then said =^= Computer. Play ‘Go Daddy-O’ by Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, Earth, circa early 20th century. =^= and he walked towards her. “You said you dont mind dancing. Put up or shut up, Faye.” he said with a grin as he extended his hand.

As the outrageously energetic music began, Faye was honestly shocked. It wasn’t what she had been implying. On the other hand, she would generally try anything once. Setting down the knife and wiping her hands on a towel, she reached out and set her hand in his. The moment her fingers connected she felt that familiar little flutter but pushed it aside. “Alright, but you better be able to lead or I’m going to be stepping all over your toes. I have no idea how to dance to this.”

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on her view, Cochrane could not only swing dance… but he was also really good at it. Taking her hand, he jerked her body into his and put his hand on her waist. “Hand on my shoulder. Just follow the inertia. In swing dancing, I lead you from the waist and your hand. Dont worry about steps. Ready? Here we go.” and he stepped back and then forth, keeping it simple till she found her rhythm.

She was tempted to look down and watch his feet, but she knew that would just make her move awkwardly. This sort of dance was about trust and giving up a portion of control- things Faye was notoriously terrible at. And yet, when she allowed herself to relax and feel the swing of it in her hips, she could understand the basic motions of it. If anything else was true of Faye it was that she was a fast learner. And the bonus here was it wasn’t a life or death situation.

Alex nodded and smiled and said “Good… nice.... there you go. Now… on the downbeat… I’m gonna spin you out, lock your hand, then spin you back… Ready?… And… spin” and he started to counterclockwise away from him.

“Okay,” she said as he turned her outward. She had already had a count going for the music, so could almost guess how long he’d make the spin. And of course her analytical mind could extrapolate how the move worked, but doing it was another matter entirely. As theirs arms reached their full extension, she naturally set her toes down of her outer foot. Looking back at him, Faye beamed. “You have moves,” she teased.

“None too bad yourself.” he grinned. He tugged and pressed on her fingers and spun her back into him… or tried to.

Cochrane

Anticipating the movement, which was probably her first mistake, Faye spun back in along his arm rather energetically. A little too energetically, which ended up with her bumping into him and Faye looking a little startled. “Sorry,” she mumbled, feeling warmth in her cheeks, rather aware of how close she was to him.
