Shon turned and moved in for a brief, yet warm hug if Faye would accept it. “Thank you so much,” he said, uncertain how to communicate his appreciation for Faye saving his life. He nodded in acknowledgement of the lockdown to prevent other crew members from experiencing the same thing. “Kiama’s going to be okay,” he squeaked out with a little less confidence than he had intended. “I mean, obviously she’s stable,” he added quickly, “I just hope her concussion doesn’t have lasting effects. I’m letting people with steadier hands do the detail work.” He raised his blue hand to demonstrate how it was still shaking from the fearful encounter.

Faye had stiffened at the unexpected hug, but she didn’t pull away. She blinked. “Uhhh, you’re welcome?”

Moving over towards Kiama, Calloway peeked at the readings and briefly watched the med team work. “Yeah, she will. My feel a bit uncomfortable for a few days though. They can heal concussions pretty well these days, but there are always a few odd side effects you can’t always predict,” she said from experience.

Calloway glanced back at Shon. “How are you? I am no doctor, but I am going suggest something to drink and a chair. Later I think we could all use alcohol. Well, maybe not Kiama.”

It wasn’t long till the NEs finished taking care of all of Kiama’s injuries. NE T’Mir gave her some mild painkillers and then something to slowly bring her back to consciousness. T’Mir remained at her side to continue monitoring her to make sure that there were no complications and to answer any questions Kiama might have upon waking up.

In the meantime NE Jones walked over to Shon and Faye. “Lieutenant Naim will be fine and should wake up again in a few minutes. None of her injuries were life threatening and we were able to heal all of them without a problem. I’d like to keep her here for a little bit, but you can walk over to her bed and wait there for her to wake up, if you like.”

Faye nodded. “Yes, I think we would,” she said, gesturing to Shon with her head to include him.

Several minutes later, Kiama opened her eyes slowly, but almost closed them tightly again. The light in sickbay was just to bright for her just now. Keeping her eyes closed, she instead did a quick self-assessment; moving all her body parts slowly and carefully, get a proper impression of how she was feeling and making sure her mental shields were fully in place. But even like that she could sense Faye and Shon close by and that brought a smile to her face. Turning her head carefully to the side, she slowly opened her eyes again and this time managed to keep them open even thought the light still felt a little to bright. She was feeling a litte dizzy and it took her a moment longer than she liked to focus her gaze on the two of them. “Thank you Faye for saving our lives,” she said softly and just looked the other woman in the eyes for a couple of moments before shifting her focus to Shon. “How are you?” she asked concerned and started to push herself into a sitting position.

Calloway just shook her head. “Lay your ass back down Woman, will ya? You were just treated for a concussion. You want to thank me? Get better,” she said with a smirk. But her own relief was evident in her eyes. She still didn’t know Kiama all that well but she was slowly becoming a friend and if Faye knew anything for sure it was that if they were real, you couldn’t have too many friends. She didn’t need many, but some… well, they were nice. She was slowly starting to get used to the feeling of them in her life too. It was very strange.
