After spending the night in sickbay after Shon and her holodeck adventure the other day, Kiama had had just enough time to return to her quarters, take a shower and get changed. For a moment she had debated to put on her uniform, but she had been told upon leaving Sickbay that she was not to return to duty till her shift the next morning. So instead she opted for a cream coloured, knee-long pleated skirt and a simple, pale lilac coloured t-shirt. Her black curls hung loosely down her instead of being tied back in the tight, intricate braid she usually wore. Stepping into the lounge, she looked around to see if Shon and or Faye were already there. Not seeing them, she headed over to en empty table close to the windows and sat down with her chair for now angle in such a way that she could see the door.

Black was her go-to. Funny how her natural inclination resonated so well with her ‘other work’. Not that Faye wasn’t capable of being colourful, but it often didn’t come from her clothing. If this were in her more off hours she have opted for black cargo trousers, black long sleeved turtleneck sweater and black sneakers. But she was taking a break between work projects and so was in her uniform, though her jacket was unzipped, her usual tidy french braid intact.

Spying Kiama quickly, Faye slipped trough the lounge ignoring the subtle side glances. She was pretty sure her recent ‘exchanges’ with the new chief of security were making the rounds. Years of hushed whispers and wary glances made Faye exceptionally good at knowing when it was herself that was the source. These days she just gathered the information knowingly. While she couldn’t say she didn’t care, it didn’t cut the way it used to. Or so she could tell herself.

Sliding silently into a chair at Kiama’s table, Calloway folded her arms on the table and leaned in, looking over Naim critically. “You’re looking better. How do you feel?”

Shon weaved quickly through the room to take the other chair, eager to see Kiama. He was in his uniform, though it was not entirely clear if that’s because he had a shift soon or if it was because he simply wanted to wear it. The last time Shon had been in civilian clothes after all, things hadn’t gone well.

“Yeah, what she said,” he added, watching Kiama expectantly.

Calloway gave a half-wave to Shon as he joined them.

“I am feeling better,” Kiama replied with a soft laugh. Now that they had been safely out of that situation for several hours, the ridiculousness and humour of the whole situation began to sink in. Not that she’d want to repeat the experience any time soon. “Though I was told not to return to duty till the start of my shift tomorrow,” she continued with a slightly disgruntled expression. “But enough about me, how are the two of you?” Her dark eyes fixed first Faye and then Shon. Of course she could simple read them and know exactly how they were feeling and everything, but she preferred to give people, friends in particular, the chance to articulate their thoughts and feelings in their own words.

Faye shrugged. “No life threatening emergencies, so we’re off to a good start. Though I’m not sure I will ever complain when people are in need of my particular brand of skills. But too often under such pressure and I might worry about my heart. I’ve heard too much stress is abd for a person,” she said nonchalantly. She wasn’t keyed up the way she had been yesterday but certainly Faye was riding some sort of emotional high. A part of her liked the game to see just how far they could push her abilities, though she was hoping to never, ever test the one scenario out that she was here to prevent.

Shon nodded to agree with Faye. “Luckily it seems as if my scrapes were nothing a dermal regenerator couldn’t fix… but we all had a large enough dose of adrenaline to last us a few months, that’s for sure.” He laughed half-heartedly. “So, uh, well hey, at least all that was an excuse for some comfort food, right? Do you two want anything? I’m craving lemon-squares.” Shon was still a bit on-edge, but he was trying to be upbeat despite it all.
