The Helm frowned for the second time and made an adjustment of their orbital course. Then he scratched an eyebrow as he peered at the console. Perplexed he turned to the officer of the day. “Ma’am. I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve had to adjust orbit twice now. Just small adjustments but I don’t know why. I’ve got no gravimetric readings or anything but orbit was showing a minute decay each time there.”

The Denobulan lieutenant stood up to peer over to the console. “Energy readings?”
“None,” he said.
“Power compensation?”
“I’ve increased impulse power to compensate. Only 2%.”
“2% more than should be needed. It’s almost time for changeover. I’ll let the XO know.”

=^= Bridge to Commander Creed. Vari here. We are experiencing an odd situation. Helm has had to adjust orbit twice and nominally increase power to maintain it. We are trying to discern the source but since it is almost changeover I wanted to give you a heads up. =^=

Pretha came on to the bridge just as the Officer was mentioning the orbit adjustment. Nodding to not interrupt, she moved to the security station and relieved the NE Lieutenant JG there. Since helm was likely already checking all energy and possibly gravity issues, she turned her search inward. She started thinking checks to see if any other console or computer on the ship was accessing the navigational control, thrusters or some other system to steer them towards the planet. She even checked to see if systems were being turned off to cause the sway towards the planet below.

Vari smiled as Pretha crossed the bridge. “Good morning, Lieutenant,” she said in greeting. “I trust you overheard. That is our only variance here overnight.”

There were no system ‘breaches’ or system operational commands being executed in other areas of the ship - bar one which was a Pretha would note as a training simulation exercise among engineers. This however, as Pretha would note, was more internal system related than external even though it had elements of thrusters and power to navigational controls. It was also not connected to the main ship intra-systems.

=/\=Calloway to Bridge. Just waiting on the others but I’m ready to head down.=/\= She probably could have just beamed down with whomever was going to join her, but given the hub bub last night she figured she’d play it by the book and announce their departure.

Vari, not yet relieved, replied. =^= Feel free to launch when ready. Your away team is still on schedule. Good hunting. =^=

Pretha smiled. “Thank you, Vari. I’ll see what the Captain wants to do about the variance when he gets here. For now, let’s just make sure the Away Team is good to go and that we aren’t gonna crash and burn before the CO get’s his coffee.” She laughed and nodded to the woman.

Vari sent Pretha a wide Denobulan smile. “Coffee. The most important meal of the day.”
