Side Sim - TIme after time

Posted Jan. 12, 2021, 4:38 p.m. by Lieutenant Luke Wyatt (Chief of Security) (J Ridgley)

Letting out a deep breath Luke looked around the security offices, he had been writing his official and yet secure report which would only go as far as the Captain because of its sensitive nature and he wasn’t in any objection mood, it was the early hours of the morning and the transition to night shift had happened hours ago. He knew that by the number of cups of coffee, a drink hed usually pass up on he had drunk and the by the number of times he had been asked: ”Burning the midnight oil chief?” by the checking in security patrols.

Today… Hell, yesterday had been one hell of a day and he hadn’t even been able to process it, a notification popped up on his LCARS Monitor inform him that he should take a five-minute break, he minimised it and closed down the system. “Enough for tonight,” He said to himself exhaling again and stretching out his arms. His gold tunic was thrown on the guest sofa so he wondered over and placed it lazily over himself only buttoning up some of the buttons so it wouldn’t slip off, no one would be up at this hour to chastise him over this dress, besides the way he looked most would likely decide not to poke the hornet’s nest.

“Computer dim lights” He ordered and as soon as he finished speaking the computer acknowledged and the lights in his office lowered to but a small glow. Saying his goodbyes to the on-duty officer he left through the main doors, only going the opposite direction to his quarters. His tiredness hadn’t effected his navigational skills but rumours had been spreading and once or twice he had been informed of sightings of the escapee Lieutenant Calloway only for him to inform them that she was now innocent and charges dropped so he decided to walk by her quarters not even sure or checking to be sure if she’d be there.

The journey was short and uneventful, he had passed some night grunts working on repairs but didn’t stop to make conversation and they had been too engrossed in his work to even cast him a look. As expected the corridor to Calloway’s quarters were quiet and until he had turned up the lights were dimmed meaning no one had passed in a good ten minutes. He slowed his walk passing her door, as good as the doors were to everyone’s quarters if you caught the door at just the right angel a fraction of light could pass through indicating if someone was in. Luckily for Luke, a light could be seen, he wondered why she would still be up but then remember their conversation about having nightmares.

He paced the corridor several times, he was no counsellor and chances were she wouldn’t even answer the door if he knocked. What could he do anyway? He had said his piece, his sorrow for how he had acted so why bother creating a scene? Finally, either his curiosity or sympathetic side won out because he rapped on the door, opting for knocking in case she was sleeping in which case a light knock wouldn’t wake her but a computer beeping would.
