Still yet to enter the room he studied her for a moment, the words ‘Agent’ and‘Intelligence’ creating an echo in his mind. He had figured as much, as good as Faye was both technically, physically and as bad emotionally as she was she sort of scream intelligence what he never understood was why her and why here, the here, being the Manhattan ofcourse. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Lieutenant Calloway.” He had to say something or she’d think he was just weird, “I… ur… I’m still just Luke so” He scratched the back of his head, his social skills seemingly also feeling the lack of sleep. “I always pegged you as an intelligent type.” ‘Ok, STOP!’ He told himself.

Faye snorted. “It’s a fairly recent change in my career, actually. I have particular skills that were useful and they’ve continued to be. Nothing more, nothing less. The… secretiveness of my current assignment was never meant to be long-term. Certain things were supposed to happen, and then I would move to my orders being on a restricted and need-to-know-basis. As you at least somewhat know, things didn’t quite turn out that way.”

He continued to wait by her door, not having formally be asked to step in he didn’t want to cross the proverbial line. ” Yes well thing very rarely turn out the way you would think, here I was thinking that being so far from home all the petty politics would be left at the wormhole yet here we are spack bang in a middle of an intelligence cluster grenade” Luke looked up and down the corridor, luckily for them no one had yet passed.

“You don’t even know the half of it,” Faye replied softly.

She sauntered back to her couch and her whiskey. Flopping down on one side, she sat forward and poured a shot’s worth of the blue Romulan whiskey into her highball and knocked it back like it was water. She poured a more generous amount into the glass and then leaned back, kicking her bare feet up onto her coffee table and crossing them at the ankles. “You and I do need to have a chat though,” Calloway said, her tone shifting and her gaze narrowing slightly. “You owe me that much.”

Luke nodded, “I think that’s fair enough” He crossed his arms, “But am I doing it from the comfort of your door frame or can I come in?” She probably expected him to have already entered but he wasn’t going to intrude on her personal space without an invitation he had learned the hard way when it came to dealing with Faye, the seemingly golden child of the Manhattan, then again he couldn’t afford to think like that not after everything.

Calloway pointed off to the side with her index finger in the direction of the replicator. “Come, replicate a glass and I suppose I could share a little of what I’m drinking.” Her stormy grey-green eyes had gone back to their usual assessing gaze, as if she were taking all the details she had gathered thus far and was trying to figure him out.

The chief security office over-exaggerated his first step, as much so in his mind he pictured mans first step onto the moon and almost broke into a smile but then realised who his company was, the door closed behind him. “Thanks” He returned walking over to the replicator and doing as she had said, picking no one glass design, as result the computer-generated a diamond whisky glass appearing in a swirl of blue lights. He walked back over to her handing the glass over.

“Did you figure it out yet? The rumours I was not so subtly telling you to pay attention to, I mean,” she said with something of an amused grin on her face.

He shrugged, “There was a lot going on and I deal in facts, not rumours” He sipped the drink its flavours warming as it flowed down his throat. “But I figured most of it out, your subtle may need a slight touch up” He winked tipping his glass towards her as he took another sip, Romulan whiskey went down surprisingly well at 2 in the morning he thought.

“So, what’s on the agenda tonight,” He asked his own eyes now fixed to her own.
