It was five days after the brig conversation and revelation. As Cochrane sat in his Ready Room reading an Eyes Only report from FedSec, a voice came from his desk interface. =/\= Yeah, nasty couple’a screws, those two. =/\= said a gravely voice with a pronounced drawl. =/\= Can’t say I didn’t enjoy watching the cops toss them in the wagon. Just wish that backwater still had the death penalty. Life is too good for ‘em, you ask me. =/\= Cochrane softly snorted and said =/\= Wouldn’t expect you to feel any other way, Gunny. =/\= and he read the last few lines and looked at the screen. =/\= You did a good job. And I really appreciate it… so will some of my crew. More than you know, Gunny. I’d call us even. =/\= he said with a somewhat melancholy smile.

=/\= Like hell we are, Skipper. =/\= and the comms went dark. Cochrane leaned back and looked at the report for a few more moments before tapping the comms.

=/\= Commander and Lieutenant Calloway, report to the Ready Room immediately. =/\= He turned in his chair to look up at the gold ox figure on the high shelf on the wall behind the desk. “You could have told me that being in charge was such a pain in the ass, you know…” and he smiled slightly and then turned back around and waited for the persona dramatis to arrive.

Cochrane, CO

It didn’t take Shara very long to arrive. As one might expect, she was often in a state of readiness and at least for the time being it seemed that she needed to remain that way. Slipping onto the bridge, Shara just swiftly moved into the ready room.

Stepping into the space. Her keen grey-blue eyes took in Cochrane. “News?” she asked hopefully.

~Commander Shara Calloway, Starfleet Intelligence

Cochrane simply nodded once and said “Take a seat, Commander. We’ll wait for Faye.”

Shara simply nodded and took up one of the chairs at his desk.

The younger Calloway took a little bit longer to arrive. Mostly because she hadn’t been expecting to leave her quarters. Her uniform remained tucked away and as she moved through the ship, she felt like she was constantly looking over her shoulder just in case.

Moving through the bridge, Faye kept her head down and didn’t dare meet anyone’s gaze. She stuck out enough as it was, given she was wearing black leggings and some sort of loose leggings, her long hair loose.

Slipping into the ready room, Faye waited until the door closed behind her before she ventured to look up. “You asked to see me?”

~Faye Calloway

“I did, Lieutenant. Take a seat.” and he waited for Faye to sit down.

There was a strange energy in the room and Faye couldn’t tell if it was going to be good or bad.

“What I am about to tell you doesn’t leave this room. Neither of you have the clearance for the information, so I am breaking about thirty different laws and regulations here, but I know it’s important to you both, so…” and he paused and leaned back in his chair.

Well, Faye had already broken rules in the last week. So she didn’t have much to say to that. But she watched Cochrane carefully.

“Strickland has been located. Furthermore, he has been recovered… alive.”

Cochrane, CO

Everything froze- except for the slight drop in her jaw. Faye forced herself to breathe but it came out as a sharp inhale. Hands folded in her lap, they shook and she had to fight to keep some semblance of her composure. “Alive,” she whispered. That sorry excuse for a person they had captured had told her he was, but she hadn’t believed it. It seemed… incongruous with what else she had known. “Is… is he okay?”

For her part, while desperately relieved, Shara kept quiet, her attention partly on Faye to monitor how she was doing.
