Faye considered him for a moment before bending at the hips, dropping her head close to his and she whispered, “There’s always that risk,” she said sweetly, before standing upright again.

“Isn’t that the truth” Luke wondered just how she learned to become so flexible, his body ached just at the thought of trying half the stuff she was pulling and she made it seemingly normal, it was certainly something to watch, she was rather acrobatic.

“I’m going to grab some chocolate covered almonds or something easy to eat. I’ve only had a smoothie in the last forty-eight hours and far too much alcohol to eat anything heavy. Allergies? Preference? What do you want?” Faye said, watching him intently.

“Chocolate covered nuts, now that’s a blast from the past” He said remembering back to the end of the war, “We used to eat these to keep up our energy, ofcourse there was the standard issue protein packs but they tasted like moon dust” Realising he hadn’t answered her question, “I’ll take what you’re having” He finally answered with a smile.

Faye flashed him a grin and padded over to the replicator. When she returned to the sofa, she set down a bowl of chocolate covered almonds and a bowl of small round crackers dusted with a white powder and a green herb. “Parmesan and rosemary crackers. Carbs are good at absorbing the alcohol.”

“An intelligence officer, a computer specialist and a nutritionist, you’re a woman of many talents Faye Calloway” He laughed, drinking more of his water feeling more comfortable as the minutes passed, and the alcohol set in.

She turned her head to look at him, highly amused. “Ohhh, Luukke,” she said, drawing his name out into four syllables. “You have no idea. I am a woman of many, many surprises.”

Sitting down besides him and once again turning her body to face him, Faye crossed her legs, tucking one leg on top of the other. She reached for the water and knocked some back much the way she had the whiskey. Then she reached for a handful of the almonds.

“So… you want to know all about me. What do you want to know?” she said simply.

He didn’t need to think to difficult “You were a part of the Marquis which means you lived near the DMZ, where did you grow up? What made you eventually join Starfleet?” Luke had a whole bunch of questions some less appropriate than others. “Youve read my file but if you have any for me” He offered in return.

All of these were expected questions, but how Faye answered them at any given time depended on the person asking, the circumstances, and her mood. The alcohol loosened her tongue of course, but she was still mindful of her audience. “Tracken Two. You ‘ave to remember that there was no DMZ until 2370. Before then it was just a small Federation colony on the border. But we were far away from where most of de action was really takin’ place. But I ‘member the occasional harassing visits from de Cardassians during the border wars. Didn’ surprise me when my parents joined the others to defend our home. I was ten when de treaty was signed. Two years later and I was learning how to use a weapon myself. Just in case.” She chewed on a couple almonds to give him a chance to respond before she went to answer his other question.

“It must have been tough, growing up like that under constant threat from both sides. The maquis who were simply fighting for their homes, sometimes I can understand their anger towards the federation.” He waited to see where his other question would take them, but he knew if he pushed his luck she’d shut him out.

Reaching for the water, she took another sip before she once again poured herself a little more whiskey. She was still drinking but with a bit of sense. Such as it was. She shook her head before taking a sip. “Not early on. It was really great. I loved dat place. There was so much freedom to explore. Try stuff. Buh when it did change, it was hard. We were fighting fer our lives, even if others fel’ we were on de wrong side.” She shrugged.

“Starfleet d’ough. More complicated. I… think I would have left Tracken evenshually. Pretty, but boring.” Faye smirked. “I learn t’ings too quickly. ‘Ave to keep pushin’ ahead, learnin’ new things. After some years of bein’ aimless, I knew I needed, I dunno, structure. Discipline, even. And…” Her voice dropped a bit and she sipped her drink some more. “I suppose it was a way to make amends, in a way.”
